How do you measure square footage of wingsuits?

One way would be to project a shadow against a large piece of paper. Cut out the shadowed area and weigh it; compare the weight with the weight of a 1 ft^2 piece of the same paper.

Plus vigil means to keep watch over... such as like an all seeing eye might keep... which in Greek is Pan Optes... which was the sirname given to Argus...

At the end of the day though this all seems quite logical to me given the past links between the management of the respective companies. I certainly don't see anything sinister. Besides, the manner in which the partnership broke up would have been an um... 'unusual' marketing tactic to say the least if it were all planned.

Maybe they simply share a love of Greak mythology?

Why would any one order something NOW that won't be on the market until January?

Hi Skyhigh,
You must be mistaken. At the Argus site is mentioned 01 October 2005 and only when we are satisfied with the outcome of all our test phases (drop tests, independent laboratory tests, evaluation jumps…). We want to avoid making the mistake of launching a product that is actually still in the development stage…

Warm regards,
William

I wish you luck.

The real test of your product in my eyes is the testing prior to release and how fast you communicate and fix any problems if they happen.

the intro price of 699 Euros. The verbiage implies that is a loss leader price to attract initial evaluators rather than what it will sell for next year when they expect to be in GA.

To avoid any misunderstandings:
All evaluation units will be for free (summer 2005). You should not pay to become a guinea pig…

The intro price of 699 Euros is for all who orders a unit from the 1st of October 2005 on. These will be standard production units that will only become available as all test phases on prototypes and evaluation units are successful.

PS the evaluation units are available for riggers, parachute associations and professional skydivers. If you think you will comply, please feel free to fill out the evaluation form on http://www.argus-aad.com/evalUnit.asp

Relax, I have not asked a single question yet.:P

:$Ok one question:
Can you tell more about the multe-sensor and Redundant architecture concept which, if handled correct increased reliability.

Hi Ton,
Nice sentence you created there.
The increased reliability is due to the multi-sensor concept. I can unfortunately not reveal much more at this time as this is one of several patent pending features.

The redundant architecture has to do with the total design of the Argus (strength) from control unit, cables, display and cutter (the latter also pat. pending).

I hope you understand that for now we can not give you much more in depth information.

I wrote before that we believe in transparency. Currently, we are however, bound to these legal issues and are therefore not able to answer some of your questions immediately. Please allow us 6-8 weeks to bring these in order (anyhow before the release of the evaluation units). After that this (open) question will probably already be answered via our website. If not –or not to your satisfaction- please feel free to remind me via DZ.COM or send me an email.

What are the parameters of the other modes?

Standard: 885ft (270 meters) at a fall rate of 78 mph (35 m/sec)

Novice: 1050 feet (320 meters) at a fall rate of 45 mph (20m/sec)

Tandem: 2050 feet (625meter) at a fall rate of 78 mph (35 m/sec)

Swoop: patent pending (I'll keep you informed about that one...)

William:ph34r:

I've sometimes wondered, and I'm sure there is a good reason for not having a mode such as this, but I'd like to hear what people think...

Why not have a mode where the unit can be configured for say 1050 feet at 78mph for those of us who jump over uneven ground? I know alot of DZs have flat land all around, but there is some which dont.. I dont think I'll ever have an AAD fire, so the concern is really not *THAT* big of a deal to me, but just wondering....

I've figured that there are some areas around my DZ that I could be in freefall over that if I was knocked out, my AAD would fire too late at 750 feet... And if I dont have something out and slowing me down at 1050 feet, something is obviosly seriosly wrong already...
