~ a guy that went into her building's police-station and shot himself in the head in front of everyone.

...bet he never does THAT again! :D

needless to say, they had to get the entrance hall renovated; they even had to paint the ceiling, which is probably 20-something feet high.. B|

Hi v-b,

Quote

care to share some stories!?

US federal prisons quite often have industries in them; we bought signs from the federal prison in Lompoc, California & furniture from the federal prison/country club in Allenwood, Pennsylvania. A federal prison that is known as a 'country club' is one that does not have any walls or guards; but should you leave you will go directly to the 'big house' when they find you.

Lompoc is a maximum security prison and is difficult to get into even for work. Once I was there at the sign shop & had to go to the bathroom, I asked where it was & headed out down the hallway. As I was coming back up the hallway, I heard this bell ringing and suddenly these rooms all emptied and I was surrounded by prisoners. Some of these guys were as bad as you can imagine with tatoos everywhere & their knuckles dragging on the floor; and here I am in my suit & tie. I didn't say a word, I just stood there until they all passed by and then went back to the sign shop.

That was an uncomfortable moment.

Oh yeah! I've often thought, in regard to inmates, if, they would've used their heads for something good, there's no telling what they could achieve.

Chuck

weeeell.. they ended up in prison; so maybe they havent used their heads too much! :P

from what i've read about this institution, it's mainly drug-related offences they're doing time for, or unpaid fines that got transfered into prison-time..

i'll see tomorrow! :)

i bet! :o

i wonder they would of let you stroll around without "supervision"; maybe someone thought it would be fun to see your reaction.. :P

i've worked in nuclear plants quite a bit, once you got used to the metal-detectors and your bags being x-rayed when entering (same as at an airport basically), you could only go to "cold" places if your ID wasnt required to go to the hot zones..

I've learned over the years that 'bad guys' think they are smarter than anyone else and they won't get caught. That's their first screw-up!

I met a very cool prison guard while on a couple day cruise a few years back... Neat guy. He was at our dinner table (big tables) and so we got to talk a fair bit.
I guess he was in some kind of trouble, because "There are 3 areas on the body, the green area like arms, legs, etc. The yellow area, like chest, neck, and the red area, like the head. I hit a guy in the red area." Hahaha.
Just the way he told the story was pretty funny. He wasn't a big guy, so I imagine using his club effectively was important.
One disturbing thing he told me about though, was something called a pink sock. I think that is about as far as I'll go with that one.
Anyways, best of luck with the job!
