headoverheels 333 #26 September 13, 2011 Quote You have an annual auto inspection? I've never heard of such a thing! Auto safety inspections are mostly, but not totally, an east of the Mississippi thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_inspection_in_the_United_States

JohnRich 4 #28 September 13, 2011 Quote Quote Every year, new sticker on the windshield...right next to the plate registration sticker. Huh. Well, I guess FL doesn't care enough about their drivers to inspect their vehicles! Although, they are smart enough to have us put our registration stickers on our license plates and not our windows. It would probably hamper the little old ladies being able to see. Florida used to have state inspections, but they did away with them in the early 80's as a waste of time and money. Registration stickers on license plates are too easily stolen. Texas used to do that, but has changed theirs to the inside of the windshield. Those stickers DO hinder your visibility in some kinds of cars - I tuck mine as far down in the corner as possible to get them out of the way.
AggieDave 6 #29 September 13, 2011 QuoteFlorida used to have state inspections, but they did away with them in the early 80's as a waste of time and money. They can be worthwhile in Texas, but it depends on the inspector. Too many let dangerous modifications pass, like blacked out tail lights, illegal tint, bald tires and the like. Some inspectors understand the importance of their job and try to educate people, not just ding them for a leaking gas cap.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." REALLY, are the stickers A4 or Legal Pad sized, or are you all driving around in Tiny Clown cars. We just last year did away with any rego, sticker, all cop cars are computer linked so can check the rego of any vehicle at any time, so the Gov't saved a truckload of $$$ by not having stickers anymore. However when we did have them they were mandated for their position, "lower passenger side of the windscreen" below the eye line. For a rego sticker to obscure driver vision, there's something very wrong there. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? I don't know exactly what year they dropped them since I left in 1991."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. JerryBaumchen 1,363 #34 September 13, 2011 Hi John, Quote Florida used to have state inspections, but they did away with them in the early 80's as a waste of time and money. Just the other day I heard on the radio that Washington state was going to eliminate their state inspections. The inspections in Oregon are supposed to get the oil burners off of the road but by me observation it is not working completely. JerryBaumchen
livendive 8 #35 September 13, 2011 Quote I can't even get aftermarket full replacements, no less rubber inserts. Only place to get blades is from Audi. Same, in a manner of speaking. My OEM blades don't take inserts, have to buy the whole unit from the manufacturer for some ridiculous price...I think they were like $30 each or something.
