LearningTOfly 0 #1 February 10, 2005 I was wondering to myself today... is there a possibility of the x-rays used by airport security messing up some of the computer hardware within the cypres. Have any detrimental effects on the cypres system's integrity been found (in the past) after travelling via the friendly skies with a rig?
SkymonkeyONE 4 #2 February 10, 2005 Does it destroy your laptop? How about your cellphone? I would not sweat it.

Travman 6 #4 February 10, 2005 Well they go to the trouble of including an X-Ray card with your CYPRES, but they don't mention anything possible problems. I wouldn't be concerned, I'm sure it would have been tested.
skydiverton 0 #5 February 10, 2005 No problem at all. The following items are more complex/sensitive from a technical view and do not have problems: - DV-videocamera's - (Digital) photocameras - Laptops - Modern cell-phones - Organisers My unit has been screened a couple of times without any problem. My experience is do not show the cypres card unless the guard really asks what it is. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit, Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
masterrig 1 #6 February 10, 2005 Don't worry about it. Several folks who I work for, have run their Cypres through the airport X-Rays and absolutely no problem. Chuck

Yup....there's not enough radiation there to worry about things like bit-flip, etc... phoenixlpr 0 #8 February 10, 2005 Heh? Do you have a Cypress card? Its for that reason that you can show what they suppose to find inside. So it was check for that by Airtech. Anyway Cypress has lot common with a bomb, at least under X-ray.
ChrisL 2 #10 February 10, 2005 My cypress is second hand and it had no card with it. Is this likely to cause me a problem? I'm flying south 8 days from now.__ My mighty steed
IanHarrop 42 #11 February 10, 2005 If you specify what version you have, Cypres 1 or 2, perhaps someone here can scan a copy of theirs and send it to you via email. I've got a 2 and will be glad to do it, if that's what you need."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

ChrisL 2 #13 February 10, 2005 I have a Cypres Expert, not a Cypres 2. IF anyone can scan their card and e-mail it to me that would be sweet. If you can help, just PM me for my e-mail addy Thanks!__ My mighty steed
pilotdave 0 #14 February 10, 2005 Get the card that comes with the cypres2. It has a much better x-ray picture on it. The picture on my old card looks absolutely nothing like what a screener would actually see. Then again, I don't think the card will do you much good. Either the screener knows what he's looking at or he doesn't. He's not gonna care much about what you say that bomb-looking thing in your funny looking backpack is. GravityGirl 0 #15 February 10, 2005 PM me your address. I may have an extra. I don't even carry mine anymore. TSA has good information on skydiving gear now. It is IN your rig, right? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
larsrulz 0 #16 February 10, 2005 I like all the people saying they have sent theirs through without problem. How many of those people have had to use their cypres? X-ray radiation is not going to be a problem for it though. I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF

mattjw916 2 #18 February 11, 2005 well, my laptop has been x-rayed about 10 times more than my Cypres and it still works. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
