That was pretty cool, thanks for posting it!

Here's something else too. Every issue of American Motorcyclist is online from 1950 through 2000. I especially like looking at the older adverts . . .

How fucking kewl is this? Out for a littel around town put last nioght, stopped at a watering hole and this is what I sa on my first check of my bike, My 1942 harley chopper, and Frank's customized 39 Auburn.(He won the lottery a few years back)..Even he had to break out his phone and get pictures...wish I'd had my camera instead of just my phone!

Frank also has 4 Arlen Ness built bikes...

>>I have a collection of Mechanix Illustrated
Another thing we have in common! My parents bought an older home back in the late 60s and up in the attic were four or five boxes of old Mechanix Illustrated, Popular Mechanics, and Popular Science magazines. I'm sure I read every one of them.

My favorite recurring article (in Popular Science) was "The Model Garage" with old Gus the mechanic. If I have any talent for turning a wrench today I'm sure "Gus" had something to do with it! All of those articles are online too, they're here: http://www.gus-stories.org/Stories/Indices/1930.htm

BTW, I don't see Mechanix Illustrated anywhere but Google has all the Popular Mechanics magazines online here: http://books.google.com/books?id=BtEDAAAAMBAJ&as_pt=MAGAZINES&ei=wHXdTO_sKpuwkATI6-3iBQ&source=gbs_other_issues

Yep, Gus's garage, rocks....thanks for the link, I'll share that one with the Neds bikers too!

I love how they never thought about buying anything, they "made" it...and gave step by step instructions on how!

Tell someone today you used to build mini bikes out of washing machine motors...and watch their face!

BTW, I still have one of those step start motors! one from Maytag, and another that was used to power a pump...both exposed valves!

My replacement "Big Boar" battery came in today. I'll shove it in tomorrow. And hopefully it works better than the bad one they sent me the first time. This one looks new though and I did the poor boy's load test on it and it tested out all right.

Also, got my new seat. Not sure I like the looks, but my bum will be happy.

Everything in life is a compromise . . .

Kind of reminds me of Larry Yohn riding minus the one leg.

On another front, I hear there is an outfit buying up all the stock exhausts people take off their store bought stockers in anticipation of more and more states passing the EPA laws concerning modified exhaust and cops beginning to look for the EPA stamp on your pipes. (This just became law in California, but only applies to bikes built in 2013 and later. For now anyway.)

So they'll give you $75 dollars for any stock exhaust (which most people just threw into a dumpster) with the idea that down the road they can start selling them back to people at a profit. Pretty smart.

But I got a better idea . . .

I'm tooling up a clamp device with an engraving die on one side and once you tighten it down over your soon to be illegal pipes it leaves this behind!

Yeah, but the upside to that is when they pull you over for something bogus, like I get pulled over my vertical plate, which is legal, there goes their probable cause. And if you then get into it with cop with an attitude, as long as you don't consent to a search, and they do it anyway, when they find the Glock and the bag of weed, you're still off the hook in court, LOL . . .

LOL, with witnesses , How do you prove bogus search?

I was pulled over by the biker hating female cop here in Hellcajon , she wrote me up for high bars, and open pipes, plus wanted to search my bike, I said "No" she said "fine , I'll impound your bike, then search it" So I gave in, NOT consented

My saddle bag was full of childrens books, of my sons, as I had already told her I was on my way to give some books to a friend for their kid.....She a PISSED...she thought for sure she had me carrying!

Who da fuck holds (in thier saddlebag) when riding a chopper...:S

I beet the tickets in court, by bringing my bike, and the Judge actually came out to see and hear it..He repremanded the officer for wasting court time!B| I was in shock when he started chewing her out.,,,,but seem she hadd a history of writing up harley riders!
