QuoteNow you need to convince Julia to stick a screen with Nina's videos on her next mars rover, to show the Martians the cool stuff you 2 can do.
I wish I was good at "photo-shopping". I'd take a picture of one of the Mars rovers and "Nick it up" complete with a chopped front end, chrome pipes and fat rear tires.

Julia is adding up the pile of receipts right now so I'll let you know later today. But it's nice to know it's paid for and there's no monthly payment book!
As for registration of a home built motorcycle it depends state by state. Some states make it easy and some make it a PITA. California just changed from easy to not so easy (just my luck.)
It used to be just doing the paperwork at the DMV (and paying the fees) and an inspection by the California Highway Patrol. But that inspection was limited to just checking the numbers on the frame, motor, and transmission against a stolen parts database.
Now they've added a third step which is a visit to some certified test station (an approved motorcycle shop) where you have to have the following intstalled and working.
- Turn signals front and rear
- Side markers (reflectors) front and rear (yellow in front, red in rear)
- Horn
- High/low beam indicator
- Brake light works with both front and rear brake
- White license plate light and a reflector
Right now all I have is the frigging horn . . . LOL!
So I guess I'll just rig all that up for the inspection in such a way that I can remove it all afterward. For instance I don't want the front brake hooked up to the brake light so I can slow down if I see a cop coming up on me without it being too obvious.
Another route is using a commercial registration service (for a fee) and they do everything for you. But I did everything else myself so far so that seems kind of strange, but it's an option I guess.

minimum wiat at the DMV here is 2 hours, usually 3! Fuck that! that is vital bar time!
QuoteI use a registration service for all my reggy problems, it is worth every penny they make,(only about 20 bucks extra) No DMV , No lines, No headaches! I will gladly pay to avoid the DMV!

I took my M at the one off 67 at Bradley early one morning years ago.
Passed everything with flyin' colors until the guy asked me how I 'got the bike there'....

Ummmm...I PUSHED IT?!

So I had to go to the Highway patrol and get them to siggn a paper to that effect.
..they were annoyed that I had to come in, they knew at one glance it was perfect engine numbers and of course a stock frame!

Julia just completed the final accounting . . .
She made a very cool spread sheet covering all the parts, tools, and materials (including taxes and shipping were applicable) purchased over the course of the project. This isn't counting the initial California registration fees as I don't know those figures yet.
Total: $13,364.00

At a dealer you would pay TT&L anyway . . .
Now - Figure out your time involved at minimum wage and see where you get there.

Now ya just put the cost threw the roof!
...as in the spoils from a midnight supply outlet?
Looked that way, they had frames, cases, front ends, all kinds of parts ...all heading to the scrap yard...what a waste!
