affi's and ti's whats it like?

Recommended Posts

Recently talking to my instructors and a couple of the TI's i realized that they have thousands of jumps. I cant imagine how it feels to have 10,000 jumps under my belt. Does it change? Does it become boring? Do you even think about it anymore or is it all just natural at that point?
Wait , I pull what first?

I don't have either rating, and I only have a couple of thousand jumps. But I'm guessing 10,000 or 20,000 feels much like 2,000.

I think if there's a point where it starts to feel 'natural' then it happens way before you get thousands of jumps under your belt. You're probably a lot closer to it than you realise.

As for boring - well, the novelty of sitting around waiting and riding in planes and packing soon wears off. But the jumping? Not in my experience - after all, while some people's freefall total can be counted in months, it only happens a minute at a time. And if you get tired of one discipline there are always plenty more to try.

Even with over 3 decades in the sport I'm just over halfway to 10K, the result of having a j-o-b during the week and a family, but for me, it's still fun. Every AFF student is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get. And every tandem passenger is a chance to connect personally and give them the experience of a lifetime. That keeps it fresh for me.

And making a sky jump with my beautiful wife Vskydiver?B| Priceless. Also, as long as they keep having "Chicks Rock" boogies at the Big E in CA, I don't think I'll get bored with jumping. ;)

I do have to admit I have a lower tolerance for hanging around the DZ doing nothing on rainy, crappy days and I don't pack tandems rigs anymore.

kind of like asking..."Do you get bored with sex?" :P

Not really... ask any prostitute if it's still fun or work for them.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

That is a good analogy. B|

I like this.
Sounds funny but... ain't a suitable answer if a tandem student/passenger asks you the abovementioned question ;)

OMG, that's a funny comparison. Some TI needs an attitude adjustment. :D:P I hope he doesn't spend that much time on his back. . . :P

Should you tell each passenger "You're the biggest, you're the best, you're the first. . ."? :D

I still liken our job more to being adventure guides, like white water river rafters. Safety is the first priority, a little bit of entertaining and friendliness are second. Besides, a relaxed, smiling passenger is usually easier to jump with. ;)
