ladyskydiver 0 #1 October 12, 2004 Ok...so I'm in Miami for business and over a weekend with 1 day off planned. Guess who made sure they brought their rig? So, the closest DZ to where I'm at is Skydive Miami. Figure...why not? Could be a ton of fun plus I get to play in the air. I drive to the DZ, walk in and get signed up. Their waiver is a bit different than the others I've signed so I pay a little closer attention to it - you can buy your rights back on their waiver. And then the nice woman at manifest sends me to the back to get an overview of the DZ from one of the staff. Get a nice overview of the DZ and aerial photo and over hear "Momma Duck" (aka Pam) talking about a speed star. Hmmm...curiosity peaked, I ask how many she's got and without hesitation I get asked to join. I end up doing 3 jumps at the DZ and have a lot of fun meeting new friends and jumping. People are very nice and welcoming. No issues with directions getting their. Fun jumps...what more could be asked for? Definitely a place that I'll go back to visit. Thanks for the great visit, everyone! Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile. Ncrowe 0 #2 October 12, 2004 Could you please explain the "you can buy your rights back" part of the waiver ? just curious "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! "

pilotdave 0 #4 October 12, 2004 It's very common actually. You pay some insane fee, and you do not waive your right to sue. I've seen it range between $700 and $3000. I'm guessing it has never been paid in the history of skydiving. Dave
Ncrowe 0 #5 October 12, 2004 I'm guessing theres some reason they even give that option? "Don't Mess Around With the Guy in Shades- Oh No!!! "

ladyskydiver 0 #13 October 12, 2004 If the BFC, is 6'7" tall and has a red goatee, yep...I met him. I'd name people by names, but I'm pretty bad at that and don't want to leave anyone out. They were all really nice to me, and I had fun playing. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile. ladyskydiver 0 #14 October 12, 2004 PilotDave explained it. At Skydive Miami, it was $300 to buy back your rights to sue.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! riddler 0 #15 October 12, 2004 Next question - if someone actually paid for this, it would be a pretty good indication they will sue afterwards. Would the dropzone let them jump? Sounds more like paying for your right to not jump at that DZ.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
ladyskydiver 0 #16 October 12, 2004 hmm...good point. I guess I never even considered buying back my rights...and never thought of it that way.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! pablo-sky 0 #17 June 3, 2011 Hello! I am new at this. I recently done a tanden jump in Sebastian and now I would like to get certified. Sebastian's facilities and people where great but too far for weekly trips. What is the best place in miami for instruction? Thanks! pablo
