Saturday, May 21 Rapture party ideas

Recommended Posts

So this group out in California has scheduled the Rapture/Judgement Day for this coming Saturday. Supposedly at 6 PM in each time zone sequentially.

We need some party ideas. Such as this one illustrated here, involving helium-filled blow-up dolls:

I have to work. I may well cross from central to eastern at 5:30 (central time). Does that mean I'll miss it?

I won't be in either one at the specified hour. :S

In That Other Forum we were talking about what might happen if you were under canopy just as the Rapture occurred, and got wooshed up to heaven in the updraft along with all the true believers.

I guess if you haven't been saved, you'd better do a jump on Saturday and pull just before 6 PM.

Wait a minute. Arizona doesn't observe Daylight Savings Time.

So... we're actually an hour behind the rest of our time zone. So when it's 6PM in the rest of the Mountain time zone it'll only be 5PM here.

So, for us in Tucson, should we expect the Rapture at 5PM when the rest of the time zone gets hit, or at 6PM our time, at the same time the Pacific time zone takes the plunge?

I mean, hey: if we're gonna get it right, let's get it right, no?

hmmm, yeah, they probably didn't predict Daylight Savings Time when they wrote the Bible. Maybe Daylight Savings was a plot from Satan to confuse us. His other name is Lucifer, right? Doesn't Lucifer mean light bearer??

I think I'm onto something here...

In any case, we should all start drinking before 5 PM just to be on the safe side.

I wonder how they worked that out since any concept of time zone didn't come into being until the railroads.

Even the idea of a 24 hour clock wasn't widely accepted. Some still used 10 hour sundials (with dawn and dusk being 2 "extra" hours) and for the vast majority of the world there was pretty much only sunrise, noon and sunset. Not only that, since it's May 21, 6pm in some parts of the world would actually be counted as a different day entirely since, according to the way days used to be counted, sunset would have already occurred and therefore be a different day altogether.

Meh . . . the guy's a nut.

Yeah, time zones. 'Cos that is the reason why the rapture is a stoopid idea...:P
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I haven't really been tracking this but I heard it was 6pm EST.

Either way, I'm sure maybe half crazed zealots will off themselves making the end game a reality...for them.

Deviled eggs, Devil's food cupcakes, and definitely the Four Horsemen (requires lots of shot glasses):
1 shot each of Scotch whiskey (Johnnie Walker), Irish whiskey (Jameson), Tennessee whiskey (Jack Daniels), and Bourbon (Jim Beam). Set 'em up and slam 'em. You may now enter the party.
Be sure to play Charlie Daniel's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia".
You don't have to outrun the bear.
