NWFlyer 2 #5 March 3, 2011 I think it was quite a bit more than that (I think that $10,000 is missing at least one 0). I saw their presentation at PIA (as well as the simulator they had set up in the exhibit hall). In the presentation they were running numbers to show the benefit of the system for saving costs in military training; however, IIRC, the cost of the system was high enough that it would take quite a volume of jumps/jumpers to make sense. In talking with the reps at the exhibit hall it was clear their target market was the military, a client that had both the ability to afford a product like this and a financial incentive to use it to manage overall training costs."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. jtval 0 #6 March 3, 2011 You are correct. I think it was $100,000. Still quite a leap to 500,000 poundsMy photos My Videos
davelepka 4 #7 March 3, 2011 At least 10 years ago. Maybe 12. We had one at the Parkman DZ in Ohio, just like the video. It was fun for a few 'jumps', and we had the occasional 'virtual accuracy meet' on a rainy/windy day. All and all a pretty cool deal, but surprisingly similar to the new ones. I would have guesses the tech would be leaps and bounds ahead, but whatever.
stratostar 5 #8 March 3, 2011 A few places have been using these, Skydive Warren County in Ohio has had one for student training for the last 8 to 10 years or so. It's a good training tool.you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
