I'm over water too. East of Argentina Yup me 2 me thinks, what would happen if i dug a hole down to the other side.. Same thing when you go anywhere VB. You scare the hell outta peopleBry but-but, i'm just a little cozy teddy-bear in a cold, dark world! Ya a bear with a hell of a growl....does bull in a china shop ring a bell with you? Apparently you don't watch mythbusters because they actually disprooved that one. The bull ran AROUND all of the shelves and didn't break a single thing. Evidently, they never tried a rodeo bull with a rider trying to hang on for 8 seconds! Trust me, the china shop would be totally destroyed! warpedskydiver 0 #30 February 24, 2011 Yep. That is most like likely the only exception with a land mass that large. Conversely China would have the same outcome. We did this a long time ago in class, but without such a visual aid. Surveyors do weird things when they are bored...

warpedskydiver 0 #45 February 25, 2011 If the surface at the end of the holes were at the same elevation you would just make it to the other side (given a vacuum and no magma etc.) You would not come up short of the same elevation

JohnMitchell 16 #49 February 25, 2011 Think of it as a pendulum of sorts. You'd accelerate towards the center of the Earth, then slow as you went up the other side, then stop at the surface and start falling back towards the center again. This is assuming a perfectly frictionless environment, the vacuum.

Or would acceleration towards the centre be great enough to completely negate the stronger central forces? You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS!
