nigel99 489 #1 January 29, 2011 Has anyone done the Trip from London to Moscow to Beijing by train? Just wasting my time browsing various means of travel and it looks fascinating. Be interested in hearing any stories even if it is only part of the route. I love travel and exploring and have followed Charlie Boorman and Ewen MacGregor various trips.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. warpedskydiver 0 #3 January 29, 2011 I watched a documentary and what was really cool other than the scenery is the fact that the bogey wheels have to be changed at the China Russo border, due to the different gauge of the tracks. Apparently the gauge in the US and Europe 5.35', and are wider than they are in China so that the Russians and Chinese could not use the rails to resupply troops in case of a war. Charlie Boorman did a BBC series on London to Australia by any means. Used all sorts of transport for the trip and it was pretty interesting.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. Doing a railway trip to Vladiwostok surely needs a lot more of prep. Jesus Christ, this is a dream I have since many yrs. Let me know when and if you start - I'll join you. dudeist skydiver # 3105

Yes the Long Way down is good, but not as good as the Long Way Round (Charlies and Ewan go on motorbikes from London to New York via Mongolia etc). My wanderlust dream that I will hopefully one day carry through is to use a trike microlight to fly from the UK to Cape TownExperienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived.
