Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

That poem always makes me cry. Then I think about all the wonderful times I've spent with all my pets that have gone before me. I want to believe the poem is true, because I can't wait to see my beloved pets again. Heck, I loved them more then I have most humans.

Just after I lost my best friend of 16 years I asked a deacon in the church I went to where our pets went when they passed. He told me that the bible said they didn't have a soul and therefore didn't qualify for a place in heaven. I then asked the pastor the same question and he told me that they would meet us in heaven cause heaven wouldn't be heaven if our pets weren't there. Therefore, I believe...Rainbow Bridge exists.

Now, Turtle. I know where you are standing and my heart goes out to you. With that being said, Riley carries the same name as my last name and I know he's gonna' meet you again. Care for him in your heart well, cause he'll always be there for you.

I hate losing pets , they become more of family than some of the people in your life

And super cool-When I visited, he'd sit in my lap for as long as I would pet him and when I stopped, he'd jump down and then right back up again, kinda like he he figured I had an 'ear scratch cycle' reset button on my chest. It worked too:)
