boomerjr 0 #1 October 23, 2010 I'm in a lower level college course of Greek and Roman mythology, not gonna lie, looking for an easy way out of an assignment. Is there any reference to Greek or Roman Mythology in skydiving or skydiving products? I know the neptune but off the top of my head that's all I could be sure of. It seems like there would be more though with canopy names or symbols or something Let me know if you have any ideas.

JohnMitchell 16 #9 October 23, 2010 "Sigma", the name of the UPT tandem rig, is a Greek letter. It's also thought that the Greeks first came up with the concept fo "Infinity". However, that's cultural, not mythological. I think you better give up and do a paper on the subject matter at hand. One talent you want to develop in school is the ability to crank out required work, even if it doesn't interest you.

rhys 0 #16 October 23, 2010 Icarus canopies evolved out of the Icarus project, Icarus in greek mythoogly was a god of the sky that flew too close to the sun and the wax that held his feathers in melted. Icarus canopies was initially developed in New Zealandb by a brand and guy called Jyro (jump your ring off) but branched out to the US and spain and icars canopies was formed. Nz aerosports developed new canopies that were independant of Icarus canopies and more advanced so they named the new line under the name; The Daedalus project. Unsure Some people are just no fun at all.Unsure he said don't fly to close to the sun, he did and his feathers fell off, he didn't say don't fly at all. In comarison he may have said, don;t do low turns or you may stove yourself in. There is a distinct difference between words of wisdom and someone stopping you from having fun.
