I love my Sabre 2

Recommended Posts

Ok, I can see that, I just read it a little differently.

I'd agree that Sabre2's tend to open with end cell closure, but that's generally after a nice soft opening, especially with a lighter WL.:)

Yeah I always get soft openings, never more than 1/2 to 1 twist and rarely more than 90 degree off heading opening.

Not perfect but not too alarming either. I think I will talk to PD and see what they have to say though.

How much line do you leave between the risers and the last bite? Do you pull the lines coming off the risers all the way down to the bottom of the container? How large of a loop do you leave in the lines when wrapping them with the rubber bands? Are the loops of consistent size? What size rubber bands do you use? If you use medium or large, have you tried the smaller ones? Have you given any thought to what you may be doing differently when you have a good on heading opening?

Thanks for these thoughts, it will be useful when I ask for advise from PD. I use small bands. I'll have to focus more on what I do in the packing to see if I can spot some sort of pattern to the different openings.

I have one too (S2 170) and i love it love it love it! Used to get occasional line twists / turns to the right on opening, but can put that squarely down to body position/what i was doing at opening time.

This could be my problem

Just switched from a stilletto 120 to a Sabre2 120 loaded at 1.45. MAN, this canopy out performs the stilletto hands down!! Openings are great, riser pressure is great and doesnt build up nearly as fast as the stilletto, recovery arch is longer, swoops farther then the stilletto and flares REALLY nice!!
I would recommend one to anyone!!

Thats what I found too when I was demoing for my next canopy. I had about 600 jumps on Sabre2 150s and I demoed a Stiletto 150 and then a Stiletto 135. These canopies tought me I had body position issues. After doing about 50 jumps on Stilettos I went ahead and ordered myself another Sabre2, a 135 this time.

My openings have been a lot better since I jumped the stilettos, my opinion? The Sabre2 is very sensitive to body position on opening.. since I started paying more attention to that my openings have become a lot better..

I love my Sabre2s!
