JohnRich 4 #2 April 7, 2005 QuoteThose with ProTrack and JumpTrack; do you end up bringing a laptop to the DZ when you plan on making 10+ jumps? Heck no. Weekends are for getting away from computers. I hardly ever look at the detailed data anymore. It's only if I've done something unusual, like a head-down speed dive, that I want to see it. It would be nice if they could increase the capacity to 20 jumps or so, for the really serious skydivers.
slotperfect 7 #4 April 7, 2005 From the ProTrack Manual: QuoteThe Pro-Track comprises three instruments: 1. An audible altimeter with three selectable warning altitudes 2. An electronic logbook, storing and displaying detailed information about the last 200 jumps and displaying the accumulated number of jumps and freefall time up to 9,999 jumps 3. A datalogger, storing freefall profiles for the last 10 jumps I have some experience with a ProTrack, but not with the JumpTrack software. I assume by reading the above that the only thing missing is free fall profile data past the previous 10 stored jumps. You may already know all this, but I wanted to point you in the right direction if you didn't! Arrive Safely John
Amazon 7 #5 April 8, 2005 The software can only keep track and graph only the last 10 jumps.... It will keep other data.. but when you download it into Jumptrack.. it wil no longer have the data to make the speed graphs...

It will keep other data.. but when you download it into Jumptrack.. it wil no longer have the data to make the speed graphs... I'm confused (no surprise ) I thought the limitation was that the ProTrack can only keep the highest level of detail for the last 10 jumps. I can't imagine the JumpTrack software not being able to do so - I mean, it's on the pc, so why wouldn't it be able to keep the most detail on thousands of jumps? If I read the info on JumpTrack correctly, it uses a MySql db for the datastore. So while it's possible that JumpTrack will only show detailed speed graphs for the last 10 jumps, it seems highly unlikely. I'd say the limitation, a very restrictive and probably artificial limitation, IMHO, is in the firmware in the ProTrack. BTW, I have JumpTrack v1.xx (haven't upg'd to v2x yet) and I can see detailed speed graph information on the last 40 jumps (since I got the JumpTrack s/w and interface). I still want a Neptune though...Michael Hart
dragon2 2 #7 April 9, 2005 The software on the pro-track itself will not remember the details of more then 10 jumps. This is a hardware memory limit. The software on your computer will store all the data the jump-track offers it (ie full profile for the last 10 jumps and less data for the rest). And remember all that, of course. So you could have a full profile for jump 1-15 then a couple jumps no speed graph then another 10 jumps with graph etc. The Neptune with Paralog will do exactly the same only it does not have a 10 jump limit perse but a full memory limit (so you can store more low hopnpop jumps then full altitude wingsuit jumps). I tend to always have my laptop with me I just don't download all the neptune data, just special jumps. ciel bleu, Saskia
LouDiamond 1 #8 April 9, 2005 As Dragon stated, it's the Pro track that has the limit, not the jumptrack software. The Neptune, besides being able to store more data and record beyond 119 secs can also download data via IR port to Paralog software running on a Palm device so you can get your jumps signed and downloaded without having to haul a laptop around with you.Plus paralog allows you to export your data to Excel or upload it to the net."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
