Joolee 0 #1 April 8, 2005 Hi there, I'm in the market for a new canopy and I'm wondering whether anyone can tell me their opinion on the Vision. As a bit of background, I currently jump a Sabre2 135 and weigh 140lbs. I have recently done 20 jumps on a Stiletto 135, liked it a lot but am keen to try the 120. Is the Vision a comparable canopy to the Stiletto. I have heard that it has a little something extra. Please tell me what you think. Joolee

Joolee 0 #3 April 8, 2005 Their play on words I think...not mine!
 skyblade 0 #4 April 9, 2005 I recently jumped one, and it seemed to be very comparable to a stiletto of the same size. The recovery arc felt a little longer though. The only way to really know if you like it is to jump it of course. Give Aubrey or one of the other friendly people at Aerodyne a call, I'm sure they will help you out with a demo I've also heard a rumour that they are planning to release a new high performance non-crossbraced canopy real soon. Not sure about the truth behind that >Anything worth doing requires a helmet<
 Gafneyjr 0 #5 April 9, 2005 It was released in 2003 if I recall correctly then either pulled off the market or worked on as there were some issues with the canopy on landings. I heard it was "stalling" on landing. I think Aerodyne were testing it again, and were working on the brake line lengths and/or line lengths. I know the Amax (their high performance canopy) was also released to the public and then pulled of the market by Aerodyne - obviously not ready for jumpers. It just shows that designing canopies takes time. Having not jumped a Vision, but having spoken to someone who had tried one, it flies like a Stiletto. But they prefered the way the canopy landed. It had better bottom end lift than the Vision. Amazing how the Stiletto is still the industry bench mark for eliptical main canopies. I suggest you try all the canopies before you buy anything as well as look at the companies you want to buy from, the service they offer, their reputation etc.
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
