Nataly 38 #1 August 31, 2010 DISCLAIMER: This thread is not about finding ways to sleep more - it's about why we don't do research to help us sleep less. I've often wondered why people seek cures to help them sleep, but no one seems to be doing research into how we could function well with *less* sleep. Think about it... And why not investigate whether it's possible for the body to restore itself through means other than sleep? Maybe we insomniacs are on to something! Maybe we should find a way to intentionally (and healthily) sleep *less*!"There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Last night, I had to take Ambien CR, Valarian Root and Melatonin to fall asleep and even then I only made it till 5:15 before I woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep. Looks like a cranky and moody day for me. Beware. We should be researching ways to feel refreshed whilst sleeping less! Why are we all trying to sleep *more*???! Think of all that time that would be gained! kasch 0 #14 August 31, 2010 Skymama, I used to take Lunesta and it did crap for me. Doc switched me to lorazepam cause he said my insomnia was stress related (I was up every 30mins or so even with a double dose of Lunesta in me). Worth talking to a doc about if its a constant problem. I'm off the lorazepam now but I still take Saint John's Wort on a regular basis since Valerian smells like ass. That works alright if I take it 3 times a day. edit: the st johns also makes me feel more care free during the day too.Sex with sith is like sex with a stripper. happythoughts 0 #15 August 31, 2010 I have a friend who went to a local sleep disorder clinic. They monitor your "quality of sleep" also. It addresses exactly the problem that you mentioned. My friend was sleeping all night, but not getting any rest due to sleep apnea. A simple air-blowing cannula resolved the problem. My friends say that my snoring is their sleep problem. PS - Nataly, its not healthy to sleep 2 hours a day, your body needs that rest time to recover and rebuild. So true... friend of mine told me about his experience going to Taiwan for a skydiving competition hosted by the military there. He was physically sore so they gave him a 1000mg tablet of Tylenol or similar. Bam! Here I usually see 200 or 500mg dosages. So when I have some deep aches I'll pop in 4 200 mg tylenol for the same effect.
