I'm not going to try to defend this kid, but . . . who among us has never taken a car to 100 mph?

There is something more to the accident than just the speed. To me, it looks like the kid was attempting to pass on the left shoulder and got distracted when he noticed he'd just passed a cop while doing so.

Very good chance that cop was a rolling road block, was my first thought!

I have... and got pulled over. However, I didn't get a ticket. The cop had zero proof that I was and he told me that I shouldn't be doing 75 in a 45. I didn't try to correct him.

I've seen way too many close calls thanks to shoulder passers. In fact, I stopped in the middle of the road once because some geese were crossing. Some idiot flew past me on the shoulder going 45 and nearly killed them all. I've also come close to seeing some t-bone accidents because of this.
Don't forget to pull!

I've had my car up to 135, but I don't do that anymore. Not worth dying/getting my license taken away. However, when I did do it, I knew that stretch of the highway, could see straight ahead for two miles, and there weren't any cars in front of me
This shit, right here, is OK

Car, modded Eclipse Turbo, 135mph

Bike, GSXR750, 147mph

I dont do shit like that anymore though, it was stupid. That, and having a cop clock my friend and I (158 and 147 respectively) was a bit of an eye opener too. He went to jail, I didnt.

I sold my GSXR for a skydiving rig and although I miss riding I enjoy skydiving and base jumping more.

Meh - I've done 225 without a machine at all, and Amazon has gone much faster.

154 on my sv650

Stock bike? No way. A 650 twin built for tourque, not top end, won't even get to 144. Was it modified? What were you running?

complete stock...SUPER LONG RUN on the highway....it will steadily climb past 144. and slight down hill =D heading east it was a few miles before barstow and for a couple miles after

EDIT: thinking about it, i might have had a tail-wind too :P

but i no shit hit 154

Age 19, 140mph in a 300ZX on I-81 in Virginia. No other vehicles on road. Yup, my kids will be driving Fiats.

My top speed is 120 mph in a Toyota MR-2 Spyder.

I believe I hit 100 at age 18 in a 1964 Buick Special back in the mid 80's. The whole damn car shook and vibrated like it was about to disintegrate! :o:D

I don't do those speeds much anymore since I rarely ever drive without my kids with me.
