Jewels 0 #1 July 28, 2010 I'm one of those people who are always cold. I admit it. But seriously, why does it seem that every office building I work in is constructed so it can be converted to a meat locker at a moment's notice?? I am tired of wearing a coat to work in and wouldn't mind if they saved a little expense by cutting back on the blowing air. Grousing over; just had to get that out of my system.TPM Sister #
BillyVance 34 #2 July 28, 2010 I've noticed that. They gotta protect the computer systems, the hell with the employees. Jewels 0 #4 July 28, 2010 LOL! Fair enough . . . although, I'd be less likely to complain about that. It's only 72 degrees out but it feels like they're planning for a high of 90. Sheesh.TPM Sister #
kasch 0 #5 July 28, 2010 its over 90 here, and out AC keeps breaking. id rather be freezing than sweating my ass offSex with sith is like sex with a stripper. Jewels 0 #6 July 28, 2010 I'd send some of the cold air your way if I could! I'm just asking for a happy medium, but being hot is miserable, too--especially if it's humid.TPM Sister #

theonlyski 8 #8 July 28, 2010 Get a job with KBR and volunteer for Iraq, Kuwait or Qatar... bet ya won't complain about meat lockers ever again! If you have a vent blowing right on you, try taping it up, or taping up a cardboard funnel that pushes air somewhere else instead of right on you... sure, they probably dont like that idea, but hey... screw 'em! skydiverkeith 1 #9 July 28, 2010 Just contact the building engineer and either... 1) adjust the thermostat that controls the VAV to your area or... 2) throttle down the damper to your diffuser(s)Blue skies, Keith Medlock
Jewels 0 #10 July 28, 2010 Redirecting the air would solve a lot of the problem, I think. It's not so bad when it's not blowing directly on me. I can't otherwise adjust the thermostat to the area, though, as it's a big area and not everyone gets even cooling and heating. You know how it goes. If one side is comfortable, the other side hates it. As for all the hot, miserable places I could be--yep, I get it. Relentless heat is miserable and I'm fortunate to be somewhere tolerable, if not downright pleasant outside. But yeah, it's still cold in the office today!TPM Sister #
JohnMitchell 16 #11 July 28, 2010 At the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field, just South of Seattle, they have one of the two former Air Force Ones on display. In the President's office on the aircraft, there's a thermostat control knob so that LBJ could adjust the temp to his liking. Funny thing is . . . the knob was a dummy, hooked up to nothing. But I guess it fooled the Prez.

That would be option 2 in my post (throttling back the damper for your diffuser). Contact the building engineer (every building has one), and they can take care of that for you...Blue skies, Keith Medlock

silent_pumpkin 0 #14 July 29, 2010 We have adjustable A/C in our office, so at least our personal space is comfortable. Labs and conference rooms cold as hell. What beats me are the people that don't remember that they live in CA during summer because they come in before daylight breaks. A coworker wore a sweater (as a shirt, not taking it off) and complained about being hot...wonder how she made it in the 90+temps in inland CA.
