nigel99 466 #26 May 31, 2010 Quote Quote Expect some giggles from the dealer, they are usually reserved for ricky road racers that feel the need to show off and make the rest of us look bad...(wheelies / stoppies . burn outs on the street) not normally found on small transportation bikes! That's where they came from, but they are pretty widely used these days. They really aren't much different than the "crash bars" on some of the older bikes (functionally anyway). An investment of a hundred bucks or so can save a lot more then that in just a simple tip-over. It's amazing how much the plastic fairings on sportbikes can cost. Just out of curiousity (and not to hijack the thread) but I do you have any idea of how much protection they provide on an R6? My new bike is sweet but I was cleaning it this weekend and in order to keep the weight down ALL the plastic is paper thin and it flexes at the slightest touchPS Nat the Ninja 250 is a very nice bike.Experienced jumper - someone who has made mistakes more often than I have and lived. tkhayes 348 #27 May 31, 2010 cosmetic can cost a lot on a motorcycle. I did the same thing to a guy 10 years ago, barely touched the bike, - it tipped over. He was pissed, but I paid for all the damage at the shop of his choice - came to just under $1000

It depends. My (limited and very general) understanding is that they are best for low speed and tip-overs. They mount to the frame, so if they are too sturdy, a hard impact can bend the frame. So they are designed to snap off in a really hard impact. For specific info on the R6, you might ask These Guys. And I asked Nataly for a pic of her in her gear back when she got the bike. And I'm still waiting"There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." I agree, but at least there's a hope of getting a pic of Nataly in full leatherWhich wouldn't be as cool as naked pics, but would still be pretty hot."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Hopefully the company insurance will sort everything out. As for her doing anything nice.. I mean.. She didn't purposely hit my bike & I just hope she learns her lesson and never again picks up her phone whilst driving - it's fucking dangerous."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
Kutta 0 #33 May 31, 2010 Good to hear your bike is being taken care of. If I park my motorcycle in a regular parking spot, I'm always paranoid some inattentive driver will come tearing into the parking spot thinking it's empty. I try and park toward the rear of the spot so it's visible. Quote Just out of curiousity (and not to hijack the thread) but I do you have any idea of how much protection they provide on an R6? Frame sliders just protect your front fairing, for the most part. Some frame sliders require you to cut a relief in your fairing in order to mount them, so something to consider when you're shopping around. They were a hassle to mount on my SV650 (pic attached). Makes me wonder why more manufacturers don't simplify the process and design them to accept frame sliders, whether it's an aftermarket or decent OEM. It was well in view, out of the way, in the designated motorcycle parking bay - and you'd have to be driving in the wrong direction to hit it.. Which she was.. Nataly 38 #38 May 31, 2010 She was on the phone with the guy when it happened and he knew it was my bike, so he called me. Nataly 38 #41 June 2, 2010 QuoteMaybe she learned something. Apparently not. Last night I called the lady who hit my bike to confirm she had contacted the company insurance.. She picked up the phone and immediately let me know she couldn't talk long because she was driving! ARGH! As if that weren't bad enough, turns out she sent an email late last night but hasn't fully reported it, so they are now "looking into it" but refusing to help me out until they speak to her.. Meanwhile, my bike is now leaking radiator fluid, I can't locate the leak, and can't get into work.. I'm paid by the hour and the whole thing is really PISSING ME OFF."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
