airkid 0 #1 April 27, 2010 Just disappear into uncertainty chasing pipe dreams across the nation? Abandoning everything: your childhood, your friends, your family, half of your possessions in hopes that you could establish yourself elsewhere? Hoping to catch a lucky break or a trade wind to help you along, finding nothing but disappointment around every corner? Quickly exhausting every available resource to yourself, you feel like maybe the world is closing in on you fast because as you run, you realize you're traveling in circles and you have no direction, no spatial orientation? just a thought... The motivation for running is what's important. It's best to run away for no reason other than a change or adventure. Any other reason willl always catch up to you.You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? skyrider 0 #5 April 27, 2010 I did when I was young...emancipated at 12 , and hooked up with the carnival, I even ran away from that once, and joined a circus for a year , but went back to the carnival... (part of how I ended up with the name Gypsy) But my Motorcycle (and sydiving) is my escape now...a ride can clear out the brain! but if life is not good....Move on....just use your brain when doing so, dont end up in a van down by the river! skyrider 0 #8 April 27, 2010 List of winter homes, "after I ran away" Chickencoup Barns(several) train cars Dumpsters, (barely bailed out before getting picked up one morning) YMCA storage closet...(I would walk in like I lived there, go upstairs, and jump over the wall (It didn;t go to the ceiling, , it had been added) and I made a "room" in the back corner out of mattresses, the maids never came in that far!} Carnival trucks, as we wintered(stayed in the sleeper cab) Crash pads, (where anywhere from 8 to 20 people rented an apartment) Under bridges In the bushes of nice homes, ( between the bush and the house, never got caught doing this) Jail..(that sucked) abandoned cars Girls basement's, (twice , found girls willing to do this for me) Simply in the woods , in home made shelters.. Buses, (spare change for enough to ride the city bus, then fall aleep in a back seat. keeps ya warm, and out of trouble...During the day...yer fucked at night...you have to walk all night to stay warm! I could go on... Needless to say, and adventure...but also not a good idea!
airtwardo 7 #9 April 27, 2010 Quote well... most likely in a parking lot by the beach On the other hand, back when I was living at Ocean Beach, Ca... There was this girl and her mom living in a van in the parking lot by the pier, little Chickie would sit on the wall there playing music and singing...you know the ole story, 'waiting for her big break'. It was the star everyone NOW knows as Jewel! So sometimes the rough parts are just a part of the road that goes to where you're supposed to be! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

wmw999 2,445 #15 April 27, 2010 I did that when I was 23. I found fun, adventure, and came home refreshed about 8 months later. It was a wonderful experience. The problems I was running away from were tied up in a job and a former boyfriend, and both were moved well into the past by the time I came back. But I'll admit I had a place to stay if things were bad enough, and a rigger's ticket to help buy food with. dreaming13000 1 #19 April 27, 2010 I ran away for 11 years, I was younger then. I am now "home" and it feels so good and so right. I had to make some trade ins though to be able to "rest" in this place...( like driving 4 hours to skydive ) But life is all about trade ins, in fact your entire life when it is said and done will be completely built on your decisions. Some of them are small and some are big but ALL of them define the path you'll travel. My justification now, is children. That and now that I'm 30 it is starting to sink in that I will not live forever and I must leave a legacy for my children and their children etc. I remind myself that happiness is a state of mind, having nothing to do with one's life circumstances, so if you are running looking for the elusive "happiness" state of being, then maybe you should stop running and focus on your mental state of being instead of your environment. Some environments foster healthy mentalities and others do not... so once again, it is all about those darn decisions! and where is it exactly you are trying to go?!?! davjohns 1 #22 April 27, 2010 I'm a single parent. But I've often fantasized about jumping my Jeep and heading south until I can't go anymore. Maybe Argentina. Once she's out of the house, who knows?I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..
