TrophyHusband 0 #1 April 23, 2010 i'm scheduled for a 4000 yard swim today and i really don't feel like it. physically i feel fine, but mentally i'm just not there. i would love to blow off this workout, but i'm training for a 5K run/5K swim so its kinda important that I swim. i blew off my 2000 yard swim yesterday, but i felt justified. i needed to use that time to get my truck serviced plus a ran 10 miles the day before. i have no good excuse today. at this point my plan is to drag myself to the pool and start my workout and see how long i last. Andy0689 0 #2 April 23, 2010 I don't either. Not much different than any other day for me. It's so nice out that I wish I could go for a run right now. Or even better, go and jump all day!Andy I'll believe it when I see it on YouTube!
rehmwa 2 #3 April 23, 2010 Go work out. It's always the same - I don't feel like working out, but about 30 seconds into it, I'm so glad I started and then usually do extra because of how great it feels. ... jumpslo 0 #4 April 23, 2010 When's the last time you took a break from working out? Even if it's just a few days. Sounds like (if you've been pushing it hard consistently), you're a little overtrained. Overtraining isn't just physical, a great deal of it can be the psychological capacity to train. A few days of can jump start your motivation and get you right back into it! "Good rule of thumb; is what you are doing the EASIEST for You? TrophyHusband 0 #6 April 23, 2010 i may have overdone it early in the week. the way i've structured my training if to build up the intensity and duration of my workouts for three week, and then back it way off for the fourth week. i then ratchet it back up so that the next peak week is more intense than the last peak week. each week i work out 5 times. since my next event is mainly a long distance swimming event, i swim 3 days, bike 1 day, and run 1 day. my swims consist of i day of intense intervals, one day of drills, and one long swim. my cross training days would be shorter than they currently are, but only 6 weeks after my long swim i have a triathlon. i'm trying to keep my running and biking endurance up. not only because of the short duration to train for the tri, but because my schedule will cause interuptions as well. on monday i had planned on riding for 20 miles (this being a peak week). i was feeling great so i kept riding. i ended up riding 43 miles, more than 20 farther than my previous longest ride. this may be part of the reason for my lack of motivation. btw, i blew off today's workout and got a haircut instead. i may still try to swim tomorrow though. if not, fuck it. i may not have improved my swimming this week, but i improved my overall fitness. TrophyHusband 0 #7 April 23, 2010 i usually feel great after a good long workout too, but wednesday was an exception. i felt good, but pretty fatigued. i don't know how to describe how i usually feel. i'm usually tired, but also feel very relaxed and somewhat serene (at least as serene as i can be with a 2, 4, and 6 year old in the house). JohnMitchell 16 #8 April 23, 2010 My workouts are mostly phyical therapy so I can skydive again. I'm really, really motivated. That Iron Man stuff like you're doing? Naw, that's too much like work, man.
TrophyHusband 0 #9 April 23, 2010 no iron man for me, training for that is far too comsuming. i could do a half ironman some day, but i would want to have some grandparents around for a little childcare to train for that.
