Rstanley0312 1 #33 April 22, 2010 Quote You better suck it up when shit happens, and... take pictures. I was running a piece of wood through the table saw last Sunday evening when the saw kicked it out violently, and hit my finger. I was guiding it through with both hands, one on the front after it was clear from the saw and one behind doing the pushing. It had a section already cut out with a portion protruding on top. The saw hit a knot in the wood and shot it out, and the protruding edge caught my little finger. Strange thing was, it didn't hurt! Suck what up? Soon as I stopped the bleeding, I headed off to the ER at the local hospital myself. It was late evening, and the place was almost deserted. Good time to go IMO. I was in and out of there in 2 hours, less than half the time of past visits. In the 2nd picture, you can see the meat that has been ripped. The flap of skin with meat still on it feels numb when I touch it, so obviously the nerve endings were severed. Six stitches in all to put it back together. It was a weird cut, U shaped, with a couple other cuts branching out from the big one. I think the doc did a hack job, but after all, it's a small hospital in a small city. Probably should have gotten one or two more stitches but it'll heal, and I'll have an interesting scar. He said to see my regular doc in 5 days to follow up, and again to take the stitches out. Fuck that bullshit. I got a tetanus shot and amoxicillin, and I'm taking the stitches out myself after 10 days. I aint paying $30 co-pays twice. The only time it has really hurt was when my 11 month old girl grabbed it while I was changing her diaper. Note to self: always give her something to play with first. You're such a pussy.... no sympathy from me..... Seriously though.... be careful out there Billy. Life is all about ass....either you're kicking it, kissing it, working it off, or trying to get a piece of it. VectorBoy 0 #41 April 22, 2010 QuoteActually, for the big plywood pieces, I lay them over 2x4's on the garage floor and run my hand-held electric saw. I met a framer who had kick back on his skill saw, this time the saw went flying back wards on to his belly and started cuisinarting it all looked like a burn victim after it healed. Sure is. Well worth the price for a big commercial or school workshop. A bit too pricey for the average do-it-yourselfer at home.
