missing closing loop?

Recommended Posts

During a jump yesterday I threw out at 3500 and my canopy sniveled like I had never seen before. After about 4-5 seconds of not being stood up i looked up and it finally opened at about 2500. The opening was very soft. When i went to pack I saw the closing loop was not there anymore :o. My rigger had replaced the loop 30 days ago during a repack, it is a Racer container which had a "thick" loop and no washer and he replaced it with a "thinner" red loop with a washer. I have jumped it about 20 times with the new loop. Is it possible that when I threw out the closing loop pulled the whole way though the flaps?

So I take it it you did not see it actually snivel. If you were not stood up it would suggest either bag lock ( although I was stood up in this situation) or pilot chute in your burble. Neither has anyting to do with your closing loop.

Does your rig have a bit of elastic webbing on the back side of the grommet to keep the closing loop in place?
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

I had a closing loop disappear on me last summer. I figured that I must have lost it PLF'ing the landing.

So how was your landing?
