No actually, I've never played D&D (I did participate in the occasional RPG as a kid... but grew out of it...) and I didn't read a Harry Potter books until the 5th or 6th book... and frankly the writing isn't bad... so I don't see the problem... oh and for what it's worth I also have read a variety of other established literature... (I particularly like some classic american writers/poets, Emerson, Whitman, Dickinson, etc...) so please forgive me but if I understand you correctly... you find humor in the fact that someone might have a different idea of fun then you do...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
