outlawphx 1 #1 May 12, 2005 I've just bought a J2 Odyssey, and I need to get a reserve for it. Sunpath's chart shows it's cut for a PD160 (364 cuin), Raven I, or Tempo 170. I'm going to order either a Aerodyne Smart 150 (346 cuin) or 160 (360 cuin), and I don't want it to turn into a brick. I'm comfortable landing either, and it will be matched up to a Sabre 2 150. I jump in the desert, and I've been told canopies pack a little bigger down here. I'd prefer to get the 150, but I've heard people mention on this site that the Javelin is supposed to have the same closing loop length on any reserve. Will the 150 pack too small? vt1977 0 #2 May 12, 2005 Have you tried addressing this question to Sunpath? They should be able to advise... Just my opinion, but personally I'd go with the largest reserve that my container would safely take. Vicki
AndyMan 7 #3 May 12, 2005 Have you ever found yourself under your reserve, setting up for a tough landing, saying to yourself: "boy, I sure with I had a SMALLER reserve?" Didn't think so. Ask Sunpath if the Smart 160 will fit, and when they say 'yes' order one. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
stellettorider 0 #4 May 12, 2005 I have a Smart 160 in my J2. My rigger say's it fits well. I had a reserve ride on it last fall and it flew and landed like it was a 9 cell ZP. Exit weight 225.
outlawphx 1 #5 May 12, 2005 I talked to Rick at Sunpath, and he said both a 150 and 160 fit in a J2. He recommended the 150 though, because I live in the desert. BTW, anything would be better than my last reserve ride under a 26' round, in 20mph winds, with a bad spot over a neighborhood
PhreeZone 20 #6 May 13, 2005 I pack a PD160r into my J2 every 120 days and I think it actually fits extremely well. Its not tight, and its not loose. Its just right. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
