i just cant seem to wrap my head around these two questions.

a man sits in a 21kg wheelchair
the chair accelerates at .4m/s down the ramp
if the net force on the wheelchair is 40n what is that man in the wheelchairs mass

Accelerates AT or TO? If it is AT, then I need to know how long the ramp is so I can calculate how fast he was going at the bottom of it or alternatively, how many seconds he was allowed to accelerate.

a man sits in a 21kg wheelchair at the top of a short ramp. when the brakes on the wheelchair are suddenly released the wheelchair begins to roll down the ramp accelerating at a rate of 0.3m/s^2. if the net force that causes the wheelchair to roll down the ramp is 40N what is the mass of the man in the wheelchair

Ok, got it . . . deceleration = acceleration.

F=ma.

So a very small bit of algebra is required.

m=F/a

20/.4=50

50-21 (the mass of the wheelchair) = 29kg (the weight of the object)

Unless I'm missing something.
