FreeFlyer2100 0 #3 February 18, 2010 QuoteIf you wash them first, why put them in the dishwasher? Damn, you are as bad as my ex. If you only run your dishwasher once a week think about the stains that will be left and the smell everytime you open the dishwasher. It only takes a few minutes to rinse off the plates then put them in the dishwasher.
airathanas 0 #4 February 18, 2010 I used to not rinse the dishes off before putting them in the dishwasher. Then my ex go me into the habit, so now I do rinse them off. Makes little sense though- it seems as if I am washing them before I am going to wash them. Kinda like those people who clean before the maid comes to clean the house. http://3ringnecklace.com/

millertime24 8 #7 February 18, 2010 I picked the "depends on what was on them" option. If i use a plate to put a sandwich on there really isnt any point. If I have a bowl of oatmeal then I damn sure rinse the hell out of it since i only need to run the dishwasher about once a week.Muff #5048

You can sanitize pieces of homebrew equipment in dishwashers because 1) they get very clean and 2) they get very hot. But if you're going to wash them anyway, I agree; no need to wash them twice. Andy9o8 2 #13 February 18, 2010 I do a quick rinse of the dirtier ones under the faucet before putting them in, mainly just so that there's no residue left on them at the end of the cycle. Otherwise, I don't get it. My MIL washes everything in a sinkful of hot, sudsy water, I guess because that's how her mom always did it, and then puts them into the dishwasher. WTF. squirrel 0 #17 February 19, 2010 i use a the special "boxer pre wash cycle." it works great, takes care of all the big chunks and such. but, gotta be careful, it is such a powerful cycle, it can end up damaging some items...see pics, last pic is damage pic. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
