lawrocket 3 #27 February 19, 2010 I prerinse. It always drove me nuts that my ex-wife didn't. It was easy to tell if she did or did not load the dishwasher because when I loaded the dishes came out clean. With her, they just came out covered in shit. I rinse the dishes and put them on a shortened cycle, fundamentally to sanitize them. My wife is hotter than your wife.
kmills0705 0 #28 February 19, 2010 QuoteQuoteQuoteBetter yet ... don't use a dishwaher - what's the point of having one? Believe it or not, a dishwasher uses less water than hand washing. Yes, I rinse the dishes and wipe them with a rag before loading. Exactly what I do. Dishwashers will not clean dried stuck-on food off dishware. I scrub off any residue and consider the dishwasher a disinfecting tool. Me too... the dishwasher just disinfects...Kim Mills USPA D21696 Tandem I, AFF I and Static Line I

We upgraded a little on our last dishwasher. It has higher pressure sprayers that actually get the crud off plates. Then it has a grinder, a-la-disposal, at the bottom to get rid of the crud. I scrape the plates prior to loading, not so much for the dishwasher's sake, but to reduce the solids load on our septic tank. The dishes almost always come out nice and clean. Same here (well, septic tank). We scrape, but dont rinse, unless its a bowl of oatmeal! That stuff dries up like glue! And we'll fill a load in 3 to 4 days most of the time. Oh, and soap quality does help too.. We tried the costco brand phosphate free soap, and it wasnt cleaning well at all, so we switched back to Cascade.Remster
