AggieDave 6 #11 February 16, 2010 Pop is dead too. He was a great guy and many of us still miss him. Not too many of us still really active jumpers anymore from that old group. That picture of me was taken at the very first DZ.com gathering in the US. We set the first US DZ.com-way record. That was back when no one was on DZ.com and it was a big deal to get more then 4 or 5 of us together. Back before the Holiday boogie DZ.com stuff. That was in 2001. I was 21 in that picture! Holy crap I used to be thin! That was a fun mini-boogie. There is still something up in Manifest at Spaceland from that gathering. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #13 February 17, 2010 Well, that was part of the Canadian rules, right? No mug shots allowed? --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
PLFXpert 0 #14 February 17, 2010 Almost all of them. I forget who even told me about DZ.com, but it was the first (and to this day only) forum I have posted to more than once. What can I say? I love this place--always have. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
Shotgun 1 #15 February 17, 2010 QuotePop is dead too. He was a great guy and many of us still miss him. What happened to pop??? He sent me some barbecue sauce once, but I never got to meet him. He did seem like a great guy.
AggieDave 6 #16 February 17, 2010 No one actually knows what happened to Pop. He had moved back to Texas, gotten clean and sober and was packing out at Spaceland. Then he was dead and his family refused to tell anyone anything about it. Friends contacted the family and said his friends were hurting and wanted to know so they could have some closure and the family shut out all the skydivers.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." PLFXpert 0 #17 February 17, 2010 P.S. Joe will be really happy he is on top. True story: When I learned to jump at a small (beloved) DZ, no-one else was ever in the plane, but me and my instructor. One day Joe showed up--having just completed AFF--and showed me a video... That video guy whose face I never saw sounded SO sexy... 10 years later, this year, I am still with the video guy who did Jtval's AFF videos. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
