VanillaSkyGirl 6 #6 February 9, 2010 Quote Just wait... If a person tries hard enough, they can find fault with anyone or anything. Good deeds are twisted into something negative and incredible stories of survival are seen as an act. There is much beauty and the good in this world, if one chooses to keep his/her eyes open. Perhaps you've had disappointment or pain in the past, but please try not to close yourself off from the best that the world has to offer. To Gawain: That is incredible. I believe that when it's not someone's time to go, it's not their time.
warpedskydiver 0 #7 February 9, 2010 I was not inferring that this was a truly astounding story of survival. It is great they were rescued. I am just not going to be surprised when people start claiming they were rescued after this point. Greed knows no shame.

While I too may not relish the pessimistic (call it pragmatic?) tone of voice from warpedskydiver, I find myself agreeing with him in this particular case. Four weeks? The article mentions "somebody brought him water" but also mentions he was pretty much out of his mind, and would be a bad historian at this point. Four weeks? Even with occasional water, four weeks in the elements, with no food? I find myself wondering about this one... VanillaSkyGirl 6 #10 February 10, 2010 Quote While I too may not relish the pessimistic (call it pragmatic?) tone of voice from warpedskydiver, I find myself agreeing with him in this particular case. I agree to a certain degree that it may not be as accurate as is being reported. However, I paid less attention to whether or not this man was pulled from rubble 27 days later and paid more attention to the fact that he is just now getting medical attention required after the earthquake. It's amazing that he is alive in his condition. It doesn't matter to me how he has managed to survive without medical help, or when he was rescued. The fact that people are still surviving living under these horrible circumstances is good to hear. Life in the aftermath of a huge earthquake like this is extremely difficult in a country like Haiti.
Phillbo 11 #11 February 10, 2010 I like the story of the guy that was found after a couple weeks buried in a collapsed grocery store .. he survived off beer and cookies.

WTF????? if it was on the news it was true, news reporters have a code of ethics, they check and double check everything before they report it heck on the news they reported Santa Claus traveling around the world, with GPS they can show his exact location, I was up waiting but must have fallen asleep, but sure enough, in the morning the stuff was under the treeGive one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.
