PLFKING 4 #156 December 21, 2009 Quote Yeah...I'd really like to hear his "reasoning" behind that one. Pittsburgh's D hasn't stopped anyone all year.......getting the ball back by surprise and running out the clock was a better option than putting that porous pass defense back on the field. Having been a Steeler fan since the late '60s, I was probably screaming just as loudly as you. I know I scared the s*** out of our grandaughter when Ben through that bullet. At least the boys have now discovered the secret to not blowing a 4th-quarter lead........don't get one until after the clock has expired. nanook 1 #159 December 22, 2009 In the movies: 1. The underdog gets the girl. 2. You get felonies dropped when found out it was a good cause. 3, Chasing the uninterested girl works. 4. A sneak play by a football team that at the start of the season totally sucked ass will win and come out as the best team in the league. Reality: 1. The girl goes out with some "jerk". Underdog blames girl for his shortcomings by calling her "shallow" and "does not know what she wants". 2. The guy gets peed in the butt by Bubba at Prison. He thanks you for trying to buck the system. 3. Girl gets restraining order out on guy. She finds some man of her dreams marries and she lives happily ever after. The guy hangs the restraining order on his wall as testament of her "love" for him. 4. iluvtofly 0 #161 December 23, 2009 There is still hope for the Steelers Pittsburgh -- A week ago Pittsburgh had a 1.6 percent chance of making the playoffs according to Football Outsiders. But Denver's loss to the Raiders means the Steelers could end up heading into the final week of the season controlling their own destiny with a win over the Ravens and some breaks this weekend. Steelers fans, whom to root against: In a two or multi-team tie at 9-7 the Ravens would edge Pittsburgh because of their superior division record. Unless Baltimore loses to Pittsburgh and follows it up with an unexpected loss to the Raiders, Pittsburgh needs Baltimore to finish as the No. 5 seed. So the key for the Steelers is to get a loss by the Broncos, most likely this weekend against Philadelphia. They also have to have Jacksonville lose one of its last two games, most likely against New England this weekend. By going 9-7, Pittsburgh would eliminate Miami by beating them head-to-head and the Steelers hold head-to-head tiebreakers against the Broncos and Titans. The Texans are doomed against almost everyone, but they do hold a tiebreaker advantage against Pittsburgh based on common opponents, so the Steelers need them to lose one more game. nanook 1 #162 December 23, 2009 Well, sometimes you got to give a team's defense some self esteem. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I think you are making some mistakes about the tie-breakers. 1) Division records do not count for wildcard tie-breakers, conference records do. 2) head to head records only count if they include ALL tied parties. BikerBabe 0 #167 December 29, 2009 Thank you pittsburgh, thanks to you my Bengals clinched the AFC north and a playoff spot. WHO DEY! omg, playoffs....it's been so long. Now, we just need to beat the Jets, and the Patriots have to lose, and we would get third seed...which would put the Bengals in San Diego again (assuming the chargers win their rd. 1 game) which means I could possibly go see them AGAIN in the playoffs! woohoo!Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! BikerBabe 0 #169 December 29, 2009 so what you're saying is you're a Bengals fan this week! Hey, I know how it is...I've been a quasi-steelers fan since Big Ben got drafted, since he went to college in my hometown. Now I can justifiably hate them again, as is right and good as a Cincinnati fan. Go Bengals, beat the Jets!Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! BillyVance 34 #175 December 30, 2009 Quote So what did y'all think of Indy pulling it's starters and throwing the game? I thought it was fucking stupid. They simply flushed away any chance they had of going undefeated. Although I wonder if there was an under-the-table payoff from the Miami Dolphins to preserve their status quo as the only undefeated Super Bowl champion. Far-fetched, yes, but impossible?
