So disappointing. Do not bother.



I had it in my Netflix queue, but we borrowed the DVD from friend of ours who routinely receives pre-released DVDs (not the shitty bootlegged kind).

I was excited to see a creative, funny comedy on a super-cold day that we would have otherwise been enjoying outside...

Such a bummer.

Wasted Sunday.

if i had to choose between watching the first ten minutes of that film again or pulling my toenails out with my own teeth i'd choose to watch the first ten minutes again, but it would be a close call, and there would be moments where i would be tempted to take my shoes off.

i never got past the first ten minutes. total tripe. skybastard gives this film two big toes down.

I say this movie was a royal flop. I can accept ridiculousness if it is witty and/or funny in some way. But, this was just stupid. It did not have its moments. I even poured my first glass of wine early and baked some cookies thinking it might help the situation, but alas I barely made it through. I did finish it, but only because I was hoping there was a funny part. The credits were kind of funny. Seriously, for me the credits (with photos of the supposed evening) were the funniest part of the movie.

It was really, really awful.

It's definitely a dude movie, some females may not be able to relate to it or find it as funny as your average guy might. I don't think anyone goes to these kind of movies expecting a mighty message to be imparted or any great intellectual insights to be covered. However, there are some really funny parts in the movie that make it worth seeing IMO.

This movie is absolutely hilarious John, and also can be considered a documentary as to why I have no been to Vegas yet in my life. I know myself, and I know better.

As someone else said, if you expect a great message, other than "dude, we got drunk and some crazy shit happened"....you're gonna be disappointed.

In all I have seen it 3 times and I loved it, funny as hell!

I saw it in the theater with a kinda-girlfriend. We both liked it a lot and thought it was funny. And FTR, I am quite intelligent.

This might be the problem. Some movies are just funnier in the theater than they are on DVD. In the theater, it isn't just one person watching it, but a collective. And whether we admit it or not, our sense of humor is partially influenced by others, and partly a reaction to others' reactions. Translation: most comedies are funnier in the theater when you are watching and laughing with a hundred other people than when you watch them alone or with one other person on a boring Sunday afternoon.

And sometimes it might be the expectations if you've heard too much hype. Napoleon Dynamite met with much the same mixed reviews. I think if you saw it cold, you found it funny. If you had heard it was the War and Peace of comedies, then maybe it may have disappointed you.

I thought it was hilarious, but then, I spent 12 years in Utah. I knew those people.

I also thought Napolean Dynamite was hilarious.

It is a great comparison, because--like The Hangover--I had heard from a variety of people it was super-funny and had high expectations.

For me, Napolean Dynamite delivered on those expectations and The Hangover failed miserably.

I also loved Old School--which falls into the "dude movie" category.

The Hangover was just ridiculous, imo. Again, I accept ridiculous if it's funny.

See, to me that part was so contrived.

I thought the-early-on "Dr. F..." scene was funnier. That was the only giggle-out-loud funny part of the whole movie, imo: When the sweater-tied-around-his-neck dentist dealt with his three-year-girlfriend and the boys arrived. (No disrespect to the gays. I love you. I support you.)

Old School was hilarious. I love that movie. It was funny.

The Hanover was not. I really, truly do not get it.
