computer problem....Help

Recommended Posts

Hey all....for some reason my pioneer dvd-rw drive wont play anything and actually it isn't even visible in MY Computer...

when i look it up in device manager it has a yellow box with an ! mark...

it tells me this

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I tried updating and uninstalling it and it didn't change anything...

when I drove to Ottawa it was working fine....watching movies while I was driving... :)

got to inlaws and went to the sony site and updated some files cause we just had the computer reformatted and since I did this....no dvd drive...

anyone have any suggestions....

thanks for any and all help

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System

a box will pop up

click on hardware

the device manager will come up.. It will have a list of devices set up on your system.. Find the DVD Drive..

Right click it, and click 'delete'

After its gone, at the very top right click on "my computer" and click "Scan for hardware changes".. It should detect and reinstall the drivers for the player.

This could also be a hardware problem.

I am assuming you have XP. If you need vista instructions, hit me up at virtualcontext [at] yahoo.com
