What's your DZ.com pet peeve?

Mine is when a user doesn't enter any info into their profile. A first name and general location would be nice, atleast. Never mind jumper numbers, etc.

There's this crazy idea called privacy, which apparently you disagree with.

The forum rules don't require anyone to post ANY public information about themselves. Your post is a flagrant attempt to create a culture whereby people are ostracized for not posting their info - which they are NOT required to do by the rules of the forum.

It saddens me to see people's opinions being shot down on these forums over and over again because they "only" have say, 100 jumps. To propogate and to attempt to institutionalize the idea that everyone should post their jump numbers and other information out of "politeness" only contributes to that viscious cycle.

Hold on there guy, no need for flaming!

I was only stating that it is a polite thing to do.

When it comes to chatting in talk back, it doesn't matter. IMHO it means a lot when people are giving advice in the "real" forums. You don't know if the person giving advice has the experience or the qualifications to do so. Yeah, for most jumpers, they can see if the advice being given is valid or not, but take your average AFF student. Will they know? Will they take the time to ask one of their instructors?

Honestly, the only folks I've seen get truely pissy about stuff like that (while trying to post in the "real" forums) are folks who don't have the jumps or experience to truely be able to give out that sort of advice.

edit:

How can I create any sort of culture on this site? This is a moderated site that curbs many "cultures" that may have started (like the culture of wreck-dot), but a culture needs a group of people. Basically, I'm a fucking no body in skydiving, thus what I say really doesn't matter.

About my only peeve is asking a question, and not doing a search beforehand to see if it has beaten into the ground before. Certainly no problem asking questions, hell that's is a big part of this site, just spend a minute and do a quick search before starting a new thread.

BTW, what are your thoughts on the RSL? Pro, cons???B|:P

I would say that my pet peeve is being told that a post, reply or other written observation here (when not completely vulgar and utterly offensive to everyone) is stupid/lame/overdone/underdone/et cetera. I always thought that Talkback was where you could essentially talk about anything, and ignore what you don't enjoy.

People that don't know how to use the "reply" and "quote" functions. You don't have to copy the whole post in order to reply to a few lines.

People that don't separate their signature from their post. I'll be reading along, it's the end of the post, and I read right into their signature at the bottom.
Dave, I like how you separate yours.
Get a hint people.

No you're not

Yes she is. How the hell would you know anyway? Do you know her? Ever jumped with her? Well, I have and I happen to know that she is always right.

Except when she disagrees with me.:D

Flaming out for no real reason. That's another of my pet peeves.

Ooh! Ooh! Me! Pick me! I got one!

I hate when people start a thread with a subject I want to click on, but dare not, lest I set off triggers that will draw attention from the internet gestapo.

Or when folks fail to tag attachments and links as NSFW.

'K, thassit.

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
