NickDG 23 #1 November 19, 2009 My sister called with the news my Father passed in his sleep this afternoon as I was coming home from Paramedic school. I'm leaving for the east coast in the morning for his service. I guess it hasn't fully hit me yet but I knew the man for 55 years and it's very hard to wrap my arms around the fact I'll never see him again. He always called me Nicky and I always called him Pops. I hadn't seen him since Thanksgiving last year, but spoke with him on the phone about two weeks ago. He told me he loved me and I said the same to him. I'm thankful he went peacefully and I thank god he never had to bury any of us, his five children. So long Dad, I love you . . . NickD

BillyVance 34 #4 November 19, 2009 My condolences Nick... It appears from your age, that your dad has had a full life. Take comfort in that, and especially in that you got to talk to him a couple of weeks ago. Safe travels. I understand the way you feel, my dad passed Oct. 17th from a car accident and I feel the same way still. Know he's gone but cant grasp it. I catch myself wanting to call him and then remembering he's not around. Just try and remember the good times and it's ok to cry(had to remind myself).Stop looking at me

MikeJD 0 #17 November 19, 2009 Nick, very sorry to hear your news. I always think that hearing about the death of someone's parent reminds us that we should get in touch with our own - so many people seem to have little or no contact with their parents. I hope you're consoled that you have good memories of your last conversation with him.

davjohns 1 #19 November 19, 2009 Thoughts with you friend. I dread that day.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

wolfriverjoe 1,523 #25 November 19, 2009 My condolences. My dad died about 4 years ago and I still think about him almost every day. Mostly wishing I could ask him or show him something. It hurts like nothing else, but it gets better over time (I think mainly you get used to it rather than it going away). Your friends are here for you, lean on them if you need to (I sure did). That's what friends are for. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
