AggieDave 6 #76 November 9, 2009 Quote I really have trouble believing that ape hanger handlebars are comfortable. I haven't personally experienced them, but I am very skeptical. Then you don't know, since you haven't tried them, huh? I have low rise Z-bar hangers that I made for my scoot. Its very comfortable, especially on long rides. Quote I do strongly suspect that they reduce your ability to control the bike Nope, but with in limitations. I've seen some crazy stuff out there, but your average hangers don't really make that big of a difference in handling. Then again, what would I know, its not like I ride a bike for a job or anything...(attached is a pic of my personal scoot with the Z-bars I made a few years ago).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Same riding position! I've put 900 miles in a day on my little Vulcan I posted. Super comfy. I've done some 1/2 day cross country rides on my BMW 1150RT, traveling for training or what-have-you. I have to tell you, the Vulcan is light years more comfortable. The BMW makes my knees hurt, my back hurt, my hands and shoulders hurt. Its just not a comfortable riding position. Its not bad in town stop and go all day, where I can stand up out of the saddle for a little bit of time, but for any amount of real time riding, it sucks.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skyrider 0 #79 November 9, 2009 Nice comfortable lookin ride BTW... I dont; even think of my bars as high, This is what me and my wife were riding abotu 30 years ago...Guess we hadn;t turned Gay yet, they were four cylinder bikes!.....I loved riding this bike, I took it from coast to coast several times! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v400/onekick/apes.jpg
AggieDave 6 #80 November 9, 2009 I love all the pictures you post of your rides and past rides. Then again, those are the bikes I like. Built by a guy in his garage because he loves it. It doesn't have all that damned Kyruken (sp?) shit bolted onto it, it doesn't have a $10k paint job and it doesn't have billet every where, its just a bike built out of love and ridden hard.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #83 November 9, 2009 I agree the BMW is an amazing bike. I can get it to do some amazing things, but for someone that is my size it sucks for long distances. It would be better with a redesigned saddle and a set of pegs on the crash bars for longer trips (to get my feet out from under me). The saddle rocks your hips forward and it really kills my lower back after a couple of hours. The stock saddle is way too soft too, you sink into it, instead of having it support you.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." danornan 79 #89 November 10, 2009 QuoteFunny boy Dan...there is NO sound to a stock HD! Sewing machines make more noise. I missed the South Park episode, and don't usually care for the show so I'll pass. I doubt I'd be offended either way...you know me! I love all bike jokes myself...I've owned or ridden the majority of mass produced sleds and have built a few choice ones as well. There are reasons we all like the differences in bikes, which is reflective of what's available to us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi Mark.... so you are saying that HD's come from the factory as quiet as a sewing machine ? Hmmmmm so I wonder why HD riders pay extra for the noise! Hmmmm wonder why?Dano

I have been running hand shift for more than 40 years, when it is what you are used to, it even has advantages.(I learn to ride on a 42 harley 45 military bike, even had reverse, yep, learn to ride backwards...it is kind-a fun)..You only need one hand to steer a motorcycle...nice to have the other free! Foot clutch is much easier to use in tight spaces than a hand clutch! once again, slamming things you know nothing of...makes no sense at all!
