AggieDave 6 #1 November 5, 2009 I'm thinking about getting a domain again and cranking out another website. Last time I owned a domain was in the '90s with www.daves-world.com. Anyways, I don't need design help or anything really then a place to park a domain and an IP to FTP into. Suggestions?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." PhreeZone 20 #2 November 5, 2009 I'm a huge fan of Dreamhost.com. ore bandwidth then you can ever use (short of hosting a warez site), up times of 99.7% last I monitored my sites and they will let you run just about anything you want from PHP to Ruby on Rails up to ColdFusion. They also give you a MySQL account for the base price. If you go with them let me know since I have a referral code that should get you money off.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
TheBachelor 5 #3 November 5, 2009 I've used a couple, and currently am on Godaddy.com. They have a lot of different options. The web-based admin screens can be slow at times. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give them a 7-8. I had been with hostpro before. Too many problems... They lost my SQL Server database, and then didn't know how to restore from a backup. Once I walked them through it, I got my data back, and went elsewhere. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years... georgerussia 0 #5 November 6, 2009 QuoteSuggestions? I use Fused Networks. They're not dirty cheap (approx. $100 a year), but they are very reliable. There is always a phone number to call and to speak with actual engineer, and every ticket I submitted was replied in less than an hour (and the problem was usually fixed at this time). Comparing to dirty cheap 3ix which cost $30 a year but could go down for a day or two, it's heaven to hell.* Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
davedlg 0 #6 November 6, 2009 I have used gkg.net successfully for a number of years. They are cheap and easy to work with. Also, they are local to you in College Station, if that matters to you.
