Lostinspace 0 #1 June 26, 2005 Is there anywhere that rents canopies?
Brains 2 #2 June 26, 2005 Order a demo. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
Hazarrd 1 #3 June 26, 2005 yea, Performance Designs has a real good demo program. I think its around $40 and you get the canopy for a week, or more. .-.
Cloudi 0 #4 June 26, 2005 Ahem. FYI...demo does NOT = Rental Kim Kim Watch as I attempt, with no slight of hand, to apply logic and reason.
hookncrater 0 #5 June 27, 2005 You could take the time to try a canopy other than a PD... If you like light-ellipticals like the Sabre 2 you could try: Icarus Safire 2 Precision Fusion Big Air Sportz Lotus They all have demo programs (probably with a shorter wait than PD). Do a search, Phreezone had a good thread about it some time ago.________________________________________________________________________________ when in doubt... hook it! riggerrob 643 #7 June 27, 2005 If you live in Rhode Island, you should "hit up" gear stores at the Ranch (up state New York) or Cross-Keys (NJ) for a rental canopy. While you are phoning around, call the other big DZs in New England, like Orange, Mass and Lebanon, Maine.
Cloudi 0 #8 June 28, 2005 I just realized that my reply to Brains may have come accross as rude and I certainly didn't mean it to be that way. I must have been a litttle grumpy when I saw this thread. No, Brains didn't say it was rude, just my "guilty" consciounce. We do encourage people to try our canopies, not only because we know that they will enjoy them as much as we do, but also because every demo program out there is a great tool for those who are really not quite sold on one canopy over the other. This program allows YOU to try them all out and make your OWN decision. Not only will you have a taste of what each manufacturer has to offer in products, but you will also get to experience what it is like to deal with each manufacturer overall. That is almost as important to many of us as is the product itself. Manufacturers offer these programs not only to promote our products, but also as a way to help educate. There are often misconceptions out there that can be easily resolved by speaking with the manufacturer, by trying the product yourself, and then making your own informed decision. Remember: your "mentors" won't be there to land this thing no matter how cool they think it is! Yes, there are those who "abuse" these programs but that is the nature of it. Even in those cases, people have "settled" for a canopy that wasn't at the top of their list, but have in the end, discovered that it is a darn good/fun/responsive/swoopable/easy canopy after all. We are sneaky that way......slipping in something you like without you knowing it. Please take advantage of these demo programs when you are contemplating your next purchase. You are shelling out some bucks (well worth it as it may be) and you may as well get the full experience of looking under the hood, kicking the tires, and taking it for a test drive before putting your custom tag on it! Enjoy the options!! Kim Kim Watch as I attempt, with no slight of hand, to apply logic and reason.
Brains 2 #9 June 28, 2005 Quote I just realized that my reply to Brains may have come accross as rude and I certainly didn't mean it to be that way. I must have been a litttle grumpy when I saw this thread. It was so rude that i can promise you i will never buy another canopy made by your company and i will tell everyone i know to do the same. No worries Kim, as i understood it, she sent her canopy in to the manufacture for repairs. Why not take that time to test out a few other canopies out there. She just might find out that she likes the Spectre/Safire/Nitro/Blade/Cobalt, or whatever a little better than her own. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
