kkeenan 14 #1 October 27, 2009 The Ares 1-X is out at the pad ready for takeoff. The weather is a possible constraint to launch, but currently, liftoff is scheduled for 0829 EDT. This photo is from a couple of days ago during launch preps. This is currently the tallest rocker in the world. Even though it is a prototype, and everything except the first stage is a mockup, it is one impressive looking vehicle. When it goes, it will be carrying a lot of signatures of folks who worked on it, signed on the inside of the nose. Among those signatures is a "Them ToadSuckers" CRW sticker (see avitar) to bring good luck to this rocket. Fingers crossed. Go Ares 1-X Kevin K._____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

kkeenan 14 #3 October 27, 2009 T-0 time is now 0824 EDT. That's the first time I've seen one move up to an earlier time._____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
kkeenan 14 #5 October 27, 2009 Oops, I misunderstood. The new launch time is 0924 EDT. I knew it wouldn't get earlier. There are some issues with the telemetry communications between the vehicle and the ground station. Too bad because the weather is perfect right now. Hope it holds up for another hour._____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?
Nutz 0 #6 October 27, 2009 Oh crap, I can hear the investigation now, "Well, it would have been fine but this sticker fell off the inside of the nosecone." "Don't! Get! Eliminated!"
kkeenan 14 #7 October 27, 2009 A bit of a delay due to problems with the 5-Hole Probe. All is fixed, and a new launch time set for 0944 EDT._____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ?

kkeenan 14 #12 October 27, 2009 Yeah, it's like hanging at the DZ waiting for a hole in the clouds. They have spotted a hole coming and the new launch time is set for 1054 EDT. _____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? Now they're waiting for a hole. ltdiver They didn't worry about that "hole" nonsense back during the Apollo launches. I remember a "launch party" on the causeway during one of the moon shots. The cloud base was about twice the height of the Saturn V vehicle and we watched it disappear into the clouds with the clouds glowing orange for several seconds. Kind of eerie looking with that awesome rumble of power lingering for a few minutes. Almost surreal. (of course there probably was a hole over the launch site. we were on the causeway several miles away from there)

kkeenan 14 #23 October 28, 2009 Currently set for 1030 EDT, however, if the wx suddenly gets better, they may move it up. I don't believe that Ares 1-X has a launch attempt scheduled for tomorrow, 10/29, due to an Atlas V tanking test that is planned. after tomorrow, the launch schedule gets pretty complicated, with launches of Atlas V, Delta IV, and the STS-129 Shuttle all coming up. So, today may be the last chance for Ares 1-X for the next few weeks. Kevin K._____________________________________ Dude, you are so awesome... Can I be on your ash jump ? shah269 0 #24 October 28, 2009 So let me get this right, it's been what 30+ years. We now have super computers that play music. We have space grade alloys used make tooth brushes.......and NASA's latest and greatest design to get us to the moon....looks just like the old design that took us too the moon? And is most likely twice the cost? Oh what defense contractor thought that one out! They need to hire me! I've got all kinds of crap i can resell the government!Life through good thoughts, good words, and good deeds is necessary to ensure happiness and to keep chaos at bay.
