monkycndo 0 #51 October 23, 2009 People piss and moan about getting a speeding ticket. If you go over the limit, you know you can get a ticket. I bought a new car with an automatic trans whereas my previous truck had a manual shift. I wasn't used to how my car would just coast/accelerate like a luge when going down a hill. I got caught in a speed trap/speed enforcement area(you choose your term) going down a steep hill doing 12 over the 35 mph limit. When the LEO asked for my license, he asked if the address was correct. I had moved about a year before and told him so. I should have filed a change of address. He ended up writing me a fix-it ticket on the failure to submit an address change and a simple warning on the speed violation. Cost me some time at the DMV to change the address and get the fixit ticket signed off, but only cost me $10 for the sign off and the $15 for a new license. That is a hell of a lot less inconvenience/cost than the speeding ticket. He had me dead to rights and let me off with a minor ticket. I attribute it to the fact that I was courteous and had a clean record. I'm sure there are cops out there that love the power that the badge provides, but the ones I have met/work around/been stopped by all seem to have a respect for the responsibility that comes with the badge instead of the power. CSpenceFLY 1 #53 October 23, 2009 I got stopped once and had a P.O. Box on my licence. The cop asked if that was the correct address, I said," We don't actually live at the post office". He didn't think it was funny. Of course this was after he asked if I had been drinking that morning and I told him he might want to try to catch me on the way home. I got the ticket.
