warpedskydiver 0 #1 September 1, 2009 I just got it back and the touch pad now can move the pointer but double tap does not work. What the hell is going on? It worked for about 20 minutes and then nothing.
Harmless 0 #2 September 1, 2009 Start-> Control Panel-> Classic View-> Mouse Check the Double Click Speed and make sure its not set too Fast... I know there is an option for turning off clicking with the touchpad... are you able to single click with it? Only thing I have in front of me is a Dell, so there might be another program specific to Sony with more options. It will probably also be in the Control Panel."Damn you Gravity, you win again"
Harmless 0 #3 September 1, 2009 It can also be the driver... what model of Vaio do you have if my previous suggestion doesn't work? Normally I would shut down free tech support at 4pm when I am no longer required to sit in front of a computer... but I'll check back on this when I get home Cause I'm on a role today. skybytch 273 #6 September 1, 2009 Quote Fixed it for ya Solved, ignored, whatever. The point is to be able to point and click, right? Does it really matter if the touch pad doesn't click if you can do it another way?
Harmless 0 #7 September 1, 2009 It matters if he wants to use the trackpad and not carry around a mouse with the laptop...Some problems are not worth the trouble, some are... that depends on the person. This is a pretty easy problem to me that I could fix fairly quickly in person... take a little longer over the internet but I don't mind if he doesn't. skybytch 273 #8 September 1, 2009 Quote It matters if he wants to use the trackpad and not carry around a mouse with the laptop.. lol! I can't imagine using a touch pad instead of a mouse; what a pain in the ass!
warpedskydiver 0 #9 September 2, 2009 I fixed it, it was set wrong plus the virus scan found something, geez did Sony do a nice job or what?It was hard to get to the control panel and settings with a touch pad working properly. Yes I know about the USB mouse trick, when I go to school I don't want to be lugging crap with me.
warpedskydiver 0 #10 September 2, 2009 With the touch pad set properly it is pretty damned fast. I have arthritis and it is not a pain for me. I was only asking because some models of computers seem to have inherent faults, I have not owned or worked on a Vaio before.
