dont know what that is lucky, i'll google, but i want an internal PCI card instead of getting a DVR from the cable company.

I have not checked in a while, but last i looked ATI was miles ahead in the tv tuner area. This i believe is the latest and greatest.

Might give a scan on the ATI website and see if they have something better. Also something to look at is if your comp has AGP or PCIE. That will make a big difference.

Hauppauge makes great tuner cards. I always use them. This one is the Cadillac at the moment.

ive been looking at the happauge cards, i just dont know if you need a cable box with them, thats what i was trying to avoid, the HD channels for me are in the 700's range

How are you getting your tv channels. Sattelite, old analog cable, digital cable, over the air?

Make sure which ever one you get, that it has a ClearQAM tuner in it to work for the cable. You may still need the cable box to get premium content as that is probably scrambled.

I have a Pinnicle PCTV ultimate stick(USB) that I use with my laptop. I am very happy with it.

getting it by digital coax, i think, i just moved into this place and my roommate isnt to tech savvy to figure it out so i am going to do it. he has a DVR hooked up to the living room tv. i am trying to avoid having to get the dvr b/c i dont want to pay $30 for them to come in and connect a wire and then charge me $8 a month to rent the thing.

Here is a link to a video about the tuner I have and enjoy a lot. I also have an older analog unit that works but not as well (different brands.) Again, there will be a lot of channels that you will only be able to access with a box from the cable company. The cable company scrambles the signal so they can charge for extra boxes.
