Andy9o8 2 #52 July 30, 2009 Quote I'm Thai, Lithuanian, Cambodian, and Greek. When asked I answer half Thai and half white. The usual response is," Oh you're Taiwanese?" Also being in SoCal I'm often mistaken as Mexican. Well, ancestrally, that's not too far from the fact, and it's the reason why you and many Mexicans appear to have a similar ethnic appearance. Presumably, your Asian and European ancestors came to North America by boat or plane, and eventually combined to create...you. As for most modern Mexicans, some of their ancestors were Europeans - Spaniards, mainly - that came over a few hundred years ago by boat; while the other side of their families' ancestry were Native Americans. However, those Native Americans' ancestors, in turn, were Asians who came to North America either by walking over, or canoeing along the coast of, the Siberian-Alaska land bridge. Whereupon, the two groups eventually combined to create...today's Mexicans. Same groups of people (more or less); different routes; similar destinations! downwardspiral 0 #53 July 30, 2009 Excellent point! But in actuality it's my mother's fault. Although she's 75% Thai and 25% Cambodian, she remarkably looks 100% hispanic. It cracks me up when someone starts speaking spanish to her because she responds to them in thai just to really mess with their heads. www.FourWheelerHB.com
