GaryRay 0 #4 July 29, 2009 in kuwait at least they had their own service providers that you would have to buy their phone and use their shit which was all written in arabic, im not sure with new phone tech b/c i was there a year ago or so if you could just buy one of their sim cards and unlock your phone and be golden, im not sure about network coverage of US based wireless providers in the dessert, im sure if you go to there websites they will have a detailed description of where you can get serviceJewBag. www.jewbag.wordpress.com
fossg 0 #5 July 29, 2009 One of my friends gave me a call from there about 2 days before he went back to the States. I am currently in Kosovo. I have Tmobile. You should not have any trouble. It will be expensive

davjohns 1 #7 July 30, 2009 I'm in Baghdad. There is wireless internet here. I have a device called Magicjack that plugs into a USB. I can use a phone set or headset and make calls anywhere I want without further charge. People can also call my 205 area code number and have it ring here in Baghdad if I am logged on. If not, I get a voice mail and it is emailed to me. Not a bad deal altogether. Hope that helps.I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
mnealtx 0 #8 July 30, 2009 Quotewith a GPS phone, yes You mean GSM, perhaps? For the OP - you'll need a GSM phone that is (preferrably) quad band, so that you can use it worldwide. T-mobile and AT&T are the only providers that I know of that use GSM stateside, but their products will lock you to AT&T or T-mobile. You can buy unlocked phones through places like xpansys, but they're much more expensive, as the provider isn't subsidising the cost. Once you get in-country, you'd have to get a GSM chip from the local provider. It WILL be expensive - if you're talking about casual calls, you'd do better to get a skype account and use your personal computer, or an AT&T phone card and use the MWR phones.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim.
