how not to land a plane

Recommended Posts

Think it was just hard braking? I've stood on the brakes landing a 180 and didn't have anything near that response. I could stop the 180 with the tail in the air, then taxi under power keeping the tail in the air. Takes a fucking lot to send one over on it's nose.....

Hey, Buck Saturday the big day for ya. See you at the DZ.

I looked at the video stopping often to determine what might have happened. Looks like a possible lesson in Tailwheel to me. Landing on the mains pushing the stick forward abit to keep the tailwheel off. However I never did see a reduction in speed it appears the speed stayed about the same and maybe increased abit before the pilot lost directional control because you see very little if any input in the rudder and the elevators seemed to be neutral until just before the nose over when you see sugnifficant elevator input to bring the tail down.

But hey what do I know, one of the reasons I practice heavy cross wind landings often on the main wheels and ridding on one main or the other to keep on top of the beast.

Tailwheel aircraft will slap the crap out of you if you let it get away from you.
