Hockey Playoffs...

I was growing a playoff beard. Got too annoying so shaved it off Tuesday morning.

Thanks, man. We needed it.

Once again speaking as a complete hockey whuffo (ie feel free to ignore the following as the likelihood of me knowing what I'm talking about is extremely slim)... I think Nabby needs to be taking a night off real soon. :|

Did they sit him at all at the end of the season? He has been a horse this year, playing in 62 games in the regular season. I don't see him watching any games from the bench anytime soon though.

You can't tell...three years ago the Hurricanes threw Cam Ward in net when they were down 2-0 to the Canadiens and they won that game and then went on to win the Cup. I think that in the third round Cam sat down for one more game and then came back and went the rest of the way for the Hurricanes. That has to be the toughest decision for a coach to make.

Nabokov's safe percentage is improving every game. Even though he let three in he is looking sharper as the series goes on. He's had 3 games at the Pond this year - 1 shutout and 7 allowed in the other two (a win and a loss).

The difference may be Niedermayer (the Scott type). He clocked over 25 minutes on the ice in game 3. Also, if San Jose can stay away from having to rely on forechecking they've got a chance.

On the other hand, Game 3 just delayed the breaking of Sharks fans' hearts...

The Chicago-Calgary series is ON! What a great game tonight. Flames get 3 in the second to go up 4-1 and the Hawks tie it up before the period is over. Great game to watch. Flames got one an an empty netter in the third to win 6-4.

Habs are done and the Montreal fans..proving what pricks they can be...cheered Carey Price when he made a routine stop. I didn't see all the goals but Price didn't have much help out there on a couple. Assholes...booing the American anthem and then giving it to their own goalie.

Reminds me why I quit being a Canadiens fan about 27 years ago when they mercilessly hounded Doug Wickenheiser for the transgression of being drafted by the Habs instead of hometown boy Denis Savard.

Caps- Rangers Friday April 24,2009, Game 5...Ovechkin was on a mission tonight and pulled off one of the most awesome moves since..his last one I guess. I love watching that guy play.

Caps now down 3-2 but if they keep playing like they did tonight they will advance.

As much as i love the sharkies, you may be right :( it might very well be a long night watchin the presidents trophy winners lose their 4th straight at home (3rd loss at home in the playoffs) to end their awesome season.

Marleau, Thornton and the rest of their blue-liners need to step it up. cant keep relyin on the defense to provide all the offense!! Definately hoping for a comeback. I would love to see a Sharks-Wings series!! Go Sharks!!!

Hey Sharks Fans...enjoy that Presidents Trophy!!!!

Since the Sharks won't be sipping champaigne from the Cup this year, I guess they can drink Miller Lite from the President's Trophy during their annual team golf outing next week. :D

God damn it. You just had to rub it in. Thornton made Getzlaf his bitch, btw. Fuck the ducks, and Hiller, what a baby faced cocksucker.

Ugh. We deserved to loose, Hiller was beyond good, and we just weren't able to make the pucks get in. I blame our loss on 2 things, first, all of the injuries we had and not being able to play long enough to get back into the swing of things (1st line was getting changed up early in playoffs, something was wrong and everyone knew it) and Nabby was not playing like how we know he can. Quite a few goals that should have been stopped this series, that is for sure.

P.S. Fuck the Ducks.

Nah... the Sharks didn't choke grimmie. They just got outplayed. It was poor luck they had to draw the Ducks in the first round.

And you laugh all you like Mr. Redwings but the Ducks are coming for your team as well.

That wasn't so much a laugh as it was a chortle (....anything that puts a damper on Lisa's day......). And I KNOW what the Ducks can bring come playoff-time.......they put the Wings out in 2003 AND 2007.

With that said.........tell them to bring it to Hockeytown......we got some payback fo' they asses. ;)

Just beat the hell out of each other over a seven game series is all I ask. The Canucks will be waiting patiently, having dispatched Chicago in four.

The Wings are 3-0-1 in regular season play. The Ducks just got off a tough stand with the Sharks. The Wings will have had at least, 7-days off. That said, when the Wings get more than 3-days in a row off, they usually come-back 'sluggish' and it takes them 2-3 games to catch-up. Even tired-out, the Ducks will probably come out on top in this series, too. I hate like hell to say that but, I think they'll beat the Wings. The Canucks just might be a different story!

I dunno... they may have a hard time finding a golf course locally where they won't get attacked by rabid fans. Stupid Sharks.

Oh well. At least they have a trophy to drink something out of. :|

The President's trophy is just a bitter reminder of what incredible underachievers the Sharks were this year.

A few nights ago the broadcast I was watching played some clips of Joe Thornton...skating away lackadaisically from a scrum in front of the net...not responding when somebody from another scrum reached out and hooked him with their stick. I know he tried to play more physical and be more of a presence in the last couple of games but I have come away from this season's playoffs thinking Thornton just doesn't have the desire to win that you need to lay it all out and go for the Cup. He's the Sharks big guy that they brought in to win a Cup with....they'll never win the Cup with Thornton is my conclusion. Too bad, I was hoping this year they could make a run but they didn't play well enough to win.

The Ducks are playing awesome right now. There isn't a team still playing with a better #2 goaltender so even if Hiller hits a rough patch Giguere has done it before. I can't think of very many players that are more fun to watch and more likely to create a scoring opportunity than Scott Niedermayer.

The Wings are going to have their hands full and I think will be lucky to beat the Ducks.
