As the series goes on the ref's begin to call the game fairly as they did in against San Jose. This will be a tremendous benefit to Anaheim.

wish someone would post the vid of Getzlaf screaming at Franzen to "get the fuck up!" when Franzen took a dive in game 2.


The series so far is about as epic as I expected. Looks to be the same happening in the east. The pens need to turn it up tho and quit losing.

Thanks for posting the video. Iknow, they've been accusing the Wings of taking dives and 'embellishment'. I've seen the same out of the Ducks. During Sunday's game, I saw one of the Ducks slam one of the Wings into the boards and put him on the ice, a legal hit. As the Wing was getting up, the Duck punched him in the back of the head and skated-off. At mid-ice, along the boards, I saw a Duck reach out and punch one of the Wings in the side of the head and skate-off... no call! I've seen it all from both sides!!! As for refs not calling penalties, they don't see everything. Something that was pointed-out was the size difference between the two teams. The Wings have only 3-players over 6'. If, I recall correctly, the announcer said all the Ducks were over 6'! The Ducks have a reputation as 'head-hunters' and I would imagine, the Wings prepared themselves. Bottom line is, this is 'play-off' hockey. It's much different than the regular season. All in all, I have seen about the same from 'both' teams.
As for Getzlaf 'screaming' at Franzen to get-up... maybe, Franzen was 'stunned' and was just slow getting-up. As for the Red Wings getting 'favoritism' or 'special treatment'... wrong answer! As one announcer put it; "The Wings have depth in all their lines. The Ducks have one good line." "They rely on size!"

Actually Franzen is known for taking dives. I've never seen a Duck take a dive.

You're right. This IS playoff hockey. Just wanted to share some perspective with you. I know the Ducks are dirty and I'd have them no other way. I took off my rose colored glasses a long time ago.

A little perspective, never hurt. As for their being 'dirty', they have that reputation so, the get back what they put-out. They definately keep things interesting! This is going to be a looooong series. It'll be 9:30 here, at game time and I'm stayin' up till the end!

Regarding line depth: I was actually pretty impressed with Anaheim's second, third, and fourth lines on Sunday. They turned it up enough it was less noticable when the first line was on the ice.

Notable notable....Getzlaf logged 39 minutes on the ice Sunday.

I was watching ESPS the other day and the way they talked, some of the Pens are not too fond of Crosby. One player was reported to have said; Crosby is over-rated and over hyped by the media and the suits in the front office. A little harsh.

And the video of Franzen yelling the same thing to Hiller. Of course, Hiller additionally had that stunned, "deer-in-the-headlights" look whilst he was dazedly fumbling around for his mask.

Detroit's main game is finesse, but they can get down-and-dirty if they need to. They may get bloodied, but they won't turtle.

The first overtime period of Game 2 may prove to be the turning point in this series. The Wings spent WAYYYYYY too much time in Anaheim's zone not to get the game-winner.

The guy does have a great shot, but a scope on his stick.....not even close, the guy has a horrible shooting percentage. Yes he scored over 50 goals this year....but he took 528 shots. thats 156 shots MORE THAN the next person Eric Staal at 372 shots and more then 250 more then most of the high scorers.
Is crosby overhyped... yeah probably, but thats not his fault, thats the marketing of the NHL, and he still comes and plays hard every night and is one of the tops in the NHL.

Getzlaf is without a doubt, the finest player of the game! No question about it. I have to agree with you about that.
I think, that was the first game where I saw the other lines get after it. During the 4-game series during the regular season, I just didn't see it.
I wanted to watch the Annaheim-San Jose series but just didn't get around to it. San Jose had nothing to be ashamed of... rookie coach (assistant to Mike Bbcock, last year), presidents trophy... look-out next year!

completely agree the guy can be deadly. I think his best asset is his ability to find open ice. He also has some explosive speed. Not questioning that he is one of the best in the league right now cause he obv is.

Hee, hee... I've checked-out his numbers also and it is nuts. You would think, with that many shots, the guy would be doing better but, it boils down to the fact, he takes the shot!
One thing I wanted to say, I could only get the Wings-Ducks game on NBC, Sunday. Absolutely horrible coverage! The volume kept rising and fading and having to listen to the obnoxious Drren Pang, sucked! I hope, they never, ever, cover another hockey game!

We'll have to wait and see while they work it out. Where in Southern Ontario would they move the team? Hamilton? Can't imagine the Leafs being happy about that. London? A bit more central. Windsor...right across the river from Detroit...can't see that either.

Kitchener makes sense to me. London is too far from the Toronto Metropolis. Kitchener is .45 mil, 1/2 hr from London (.45mil), 15 minutes from Guelph (.12mil), and 1/2hr from Hamilton (.6mil).
People keep talking about Peterborough. This makes no sense to me, but I am not really not that familliar with the geography around there.
