masterrig 1 #276 May 8, 2009 The refs can only call what they see. Franzen got fucking slammed and took his time getting-up!!! I've seen the Ducks do the same thing. Think what you want of Franzen... he didn't cry about it! He didn't take a dive, either. That's something else the Ducks from the coach down has been complaining about... the refs not calling all the penalties on Detroit. I've seen a shit-load of ugly fucking hits, shots to the head, you name it that the Ducks have done and NO calls! I've read several articles about this series and all, have mentioned the Ducks whining. That's how the Ducks play... put the attention on the other team's players so they won't be watching the Ducks. They're notorious for it. They did the same thing in the San Jose series and the regular season. I've tried to be fair about all this but I hope, the Wings trim the ducks feathers and go-on to the next round. If they don't, they are still the 'class' of the NHL. As for Gary Bettman, I believe he did come from Basketball and if not, he should go back to where-ever! Chuck

MikeMcLean 0 #280 May 8, 2009 QuoteHEre's what really frightens me about that. Didn't Bettman come from the NBA? Yes, it's almost like years ago David Stern recognized the growing popularity of and potential competition by hockey to the NBA. Upon realizing this, he plotted and planned and ultimately figured that the best way to fight this competition was to send his most inept, idiotic, and dumb advisor over to the league as commissioner. And us NHL fans have been stuck with Bettman ever since. It wouldn't hurt you to think like a fucking serial killer every once in a while - just for the sake of prevention
masterrig 1 #281 May 8, 2009 O.K., I watched it 3-times! Hossa got double-teamed out on the ice and bounced right back-up. Then, the action procedes to the boards behind the net. Franzen gets tied-up and it looked to me like he just lost his footing when he got tangled-up with the Duck and fell down and was slow getting up after Getzlaf PUNCHED HIM IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD!!! Now, out of all that, just where, do you see that Franzen dove? edit to add: 'IF', Franzen was taking a 'dive'... why, was he grabbing at the boards in an effort to keep from falling? Chuck Based on the first period, the Wings are definitely playing better and putting more pressure on the Ducks. Ducks are going to have to up their game. Ducks have to do a better job of clearing the puck out of their zone. The late goal was a result of a half assed job and there were a couple of other instances where they were a bit lax. You can't give a team like the Wings more chances in your zone. Did you see Selanne put the shoulder to Chelios in the corner? It was a thing of beauty..caught Chelios by surprise as he came charging in to check Selanne, Teemu popped up and rocked him.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

MikeMcLean 0 #292 May 8, 2009 Quote How 'bout them Wings!Chuck Nice game, albeit not as confidence inspiring as I'd like. I saw quite a few Wings passes that got through not because the pass beat the defenseman but because the defenseman was either out of position looking to deliver a questionable hit or because the defenseman's stick was off the ice hunting for a Wings player. These incidents are, theoretically, correctable by the Ducks. On the other side note I still did see a number of broken passes by a Duck's defenseman who was in position. There's is a defense that can still step back up. I'm not completely confident that they (Duck's) will step back up, but I'm also not confident they won't.It wouldn't hurt you to think like a fucking serial killer every once in a while - just for the sake of prevention
murrays 0 #293 May 8, 2009 I missed the rest of the game after the first...had things that had to get done...but from seeing the highlights, etc. it seems to me that the Wings have stepped it up a notch. gravitysurfer 0 #295 May 8, 2009 Quote It will be interesting to see what happens in Game 5. I'm going down to the game this Sunday. My MOTHER is a bit miffed that I'll miss her dinner but... priorities..ya know? The series is right where it should be...an even match (as predicted). After game 3, it was good to see that the only person who "lost sight" of Hossas' puck was Hiller. aloha.
murrays 0 #296 May 8, 2009 Quote Hiller really was "Swiss Cheese" last night! It might be time for him to take a night off. I remember when the Hurricanes used Gerber instead of Cam Ward in one game in the middle of their Cup run and the night off definitely rejuvenated him. He's been facing a ton of shots. Who knows, maybe Giguere will take it the rest of the way. The Ducks definitely are solid in the goaltending department. Giguere as a backup provides depth that doesn't exist for most other teams. Tough decision for Carlyle.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

Are you so much of a homer you can't see Franzen going down like a sack of potatos, clutching his head, and rolling around like he plays soccer for France? Sure Getz punched him but that was nowhere near hard enough to do anything but say "get the fuck off me!" You can go to the Redwings message boards and read how embarressing Franzen is since acts like a baby. The Ducks last night really stunk it up and looked lazier than I've ever seen em. They made it look like there were 10 Redwings on the ice since they were losing EVERY battle. Don Do youself a favor and don't blame that loss on a fluke turnover and poor officiating. Detroit had plenty of chances to score and they couldn't. Babcock realizes that and made some key adjustments for game 4. masterrig 1 #299 May 8, 2009 Over all, I thought it was a well played game on both sides. The Wings were really on their game. They completed more passes and avoided penalties. I really didn't see any, what I would call 'dirty' hits from either team. The Wings were faster than they have been and seemed to be firing on all eight. This is really turning into a good series. If, the Wings continue to play like last night, I would say, their chances of winning the series are quite good. I was glad to see Hossa get two goals as well as Franzen.
